Official Squatch Watchers

Well clandestine or not, I’m thinking in the spring I might add a pair. Even if they have to show up in the mail anonymously.

I have one that hasn’t been looking good.

I’ve pampered, I’ve wormed, I’ve examined her from head to toe a million times. She’s very light. Could be molt. Could be something reproductive that just isn’t showing since none are laying right now. Could be something else that just isn’t apparent to me. She’s happy though and still runs to me like a puppy when I call her name so there’s that.
But something’s telling me she might not see the spring.
Reproductive cancers show up at two years of age. Can't do much about that and the symptoms are correct

You know, it would not be this bad if i had not had an accident taking care of my chickens. I have no friends or relatives here to care for my animals. Should i let them starve? Winter is coming, should i let them freeze? My husband will not be doing my chores, he had torn ligaments and cartilage in his right wrist. He is out there daily chopping wood to keep us warm.
So it's not so simple to just stop doing stuff and watch tv. I thought friends were supportive. I didn't get this surgery done just to be pretty. I am old and fat, and have no vanity left.I need to be able to see.
I feel like you guys would feel some empathy if i were a chicken. I spent my life taking care of others. Now no one cares for me. I am so sad.
I am in the same boat as you!

Luckily it is much easier to take care of 6 hens. Downsizing was a real work saver for me

Morning all :frow, I'm 180 posts behind... So I'll try to catch up when I get home tomorrow.
Hi Bob!

I am behind to but it is because power was out for 12 hours yesterday. It cut into my BYC Time!

Lol I forgot it's Wednesday!

I beat the trash men by about 30 seconds!!

Today is hubby's 60th birthday. How did 60 happen?
:th

I am going to get him one of those ice cream cakes.
This weekend new grips for 2 of his pistols and a shoulder holster.
That's all he asked for.

Making tater salad, cole slaw, ribs and baked beans for supper.
I hope he likes it.

Oh and Sable has a new trick. She figured out gate latches.
Happy Birthday to Hubby!

I will be 59 this January so not too far behind. How did that happen?

We are still doing good I think :thumbsup He is being a tater to poor naked Amelia but otherwise is being a perfect gentleman. And Amelia has figured out that if she hides behind me, Roux will leave her alone. Cause I am boss rooster and he respects that. :yesss:

Hopefully he and Amelia will reach a truce sometime soon. Her getting to sleep with the flock last night was a step in the right direction at least.
That is so great! You must be a pretty good rooster lol. He's such a pretty guy I was hoping he was behaving himself.:)
Lol not that fancy. Just curbside pick up day.
If you miss having it out in time you have 2 choices.
Keep it til next week or pay 25 bucks for them to swing back by.

Going to have to go to sprouts too. They honor last weeks ad and this weeks both on Wednesday.
That is pretty fancy Henny, no such thing here. Have to take the trash off ourselves. If we lived in town we would get curbside. I don't even get recycling bins, there is one big recyling dumpster and it is always packed full! Now they're getting picky about using it, no glass can't put your cans in a plastic bag just nutty considering it is recycling.:barnie

People send animal control wtf Ron? That has to get on your nerves. I'm pretty lucky I can hide in the crowd now, nobody can blame my chickens since there are at least three other flocks fairly close. Did have crazy shack man call the police on the rooster but he called at 3 or 4 pm and the officer had chickens himself so shack man got shut down.:)
I don't mind the looks as much as my hens being blamed for things like the smell of the tomato silage, Flies that come from the same source and rats from the wheat fields. Luckily we are legally allowed to have them here but the visits from Animal Control are a nuisance!

Sometimes I do not like some of my neighbors. I sometimes think I am being trolled by them on BYC too!

That's by biggest worry with having roosters and neighbors. I'll have 1 standard size and 1 bantam. I know the saying is offer eggs, which I'm fine with, but it depends on how I'm approached about it. Legally I can have them. Roosters too. So don't be a tater or the offer of eggs with be a "discounted price" which won't be discounted at all. LOL

Yes! The neighbor had me put plywood on the fence so that her rat terrier was not bothered by the chickens....The dog was trying to get to them to kill them! Then complained about the flies that came from the tomato fields and silage(woodland has one of the larges tomato processing plants in the US). The owner of the rental next to us said the renters complained about the smell in late summer...Chickens to not smell much then because there is no rain and I keep it clean out there. Animal control showed up two days later. The smell at that time comes from tomato silage dumped into a field a mile from my house.

Luckily hens are legal here and there is no neighbor annoyance clause in the ordinance
