I am using a Gene Cafe coffee Bean roaster that I bought years ago off of Ebay.Oh! Ok I see. How do you roast them. Sounds yummy.
I roast my own coffee beans. I have been since the early 1980s. Last year my roaster broke and I had to purchase coffee beans until the parts were delivered.
It was shocking at how bad the coffee beans I bought were. I finally found a local roaster that had the good stuff
Ok folks.... Need some thoughts. Baby pigs have me at my witt's end. Months ago, I strung hot wire inside the fence, but attached to the fence with the yellow plastic insulators and it worked great until the littles decided to become escape artists. I about killed myself last weekend restringing the wire, which lasted less than an hour until ham basically just sat on it. He either breaks it or pushes it up against the fence grounding it out (always using his butt). And the kids have lifted the perimeter fence so they can easily go out in many places. Since I know ham can break 14 gauge steel wire and insulators, I'm thinking about poly tape or horse rope.
Thinking about building an electric fence a foot inside the metal fence with 3 or four wires close to the ground. Also thinking about getting a hotter energizer. I'd love your thoughts on how I quit having to chase pigs several times a day, every day. If I had the money, I'd buy a pig fence with a 1 joule charger, but that's a LOT of money.
They're driving me crazy if you can't tell...![]()
I had it padded and she promptly removed it. When she’s hobbled she pretty much refuses to walk. I do think the injury was older. Back from when she was still with the flock. I have it slightly padded now with what I have it bandaged with. I was really hoping the hobble would pull her leg back slightly. So at least it would be in a better position even if it was stiff. I’m going to focus on her wound.Nunny, it looks like a deep pressure ulcer that abcessed out. If she continues using it as a foot, take some foam rubber and make a cushion that can wrap around her leg, then add a piece of regular rubber from the sole of an old shoe, and glue it to the foam rubber, with two pieces of double sided Velcro in between. What you want is to be able to wrap one piece of Velcro around the leg above the joint, and the other one below the joint. Basically, it's a chicken version of knee pads that you can get at the hardware or garden store. It will provide protection and cushioning for her. You could try the same idea with a piece of metal or stiff plastic between the foam rubber and the outer layer for a firm splint to keep it from giving out on her. Then just make a soft outer cover to keep the others from messing with it.

I don’t know what else to do for her. Her spirits are high. She eats, drinks, poops.... I’m hoping the infection didn’t get too far. I have some antibiotics but not knowing what the infection is I hate to just throw antibiotics at it.
