I wouldn't believe it had I not seen it. An encapsulated feather in her leg.

There were abnormalities to her leg tendons as well.
For those who didn't want to look at pictures. Tumors were found.

Suzie, I feed to the lowest common denominator. If I have young pullets on pasture, everyone get's grower. Once the pullets are of laying age, I'll move everyone to layer. But I generally don't keep roosters more than 3 years. I haven't seen any issues in my 3 year old boys when I process them.

21 Peta should probably be spelled PITA. One of my friends scheduled a huge BBQ for his customers and potential customers. The morning was scheduled to process the birds for the BBQ. PETA showed up and stole a bunch of his birds. Of course they died a slow and miserable death in their care as they were already fully grown.
