Official Squatch Watchers

Wow what a roost time! My three coop hermits finally came out around 4pm. They made it as far as a bush so they stayed under there. Time to put them up everyone follws the path except them. I had to carry each one back to the coop lol! Sallie just stomps through it but the other three jeeze lol!:gig

Our power went out today for about 4 hours, so i brought my Tolbunt chicks back in the house. Hoping it doesn't affect the eggs in the bators!
The eggs will be fine. 4 hours is not a terrible amount of time to be without heat.

We had about 2 feet of snow! Hubby has been out there killing himself shoveling it. Our driveway is about 350-400 feet long, and he shoveled a path to Turkey Town and another up to the barn.
I hope he does not strain his heart too much!

Winter must be hard on them!

Pretty bad when 37* is exciting. :lau I know exactly how you feel though. I check the wind speed now too. LOL It’s like I try to calculate if I should open the door and for how long. Most of the time I don’t bother. They won’t go out in it. And yes the new coop is quickly filling with poop! I thought it seemed like a lot but hearing everyone’s chickens have turned into poop machines I feel better.
I’m hoping this dang cold rain takes a break long enough for me to get my coop cleaned out tomorrow.
Yes my girls are being poop machines too.

I have a buff who resumed laying about three weeks ago. Been getting an egg consistently every other day. She was the only one who didn’t seem to get hit by a molt.

I went outside to check on them yesterday morning.
38 degrees. Pouring rain.
Hard wind.
Haven’t seen an egg since Wednesday.
I got close to the run and thought “oh lord! Something got in and killed my buffs!”

Golden feathers EVERYWHERE!

I unlocked the door to the run as they started filing out the pop door and down the ramp so I quickly saw that all were accounted for.

I picked up Corrine since she was first one down the ramp( always is) and turned her over to discover that she’s a porcupine!

Wow. She really missed the boat. All the others are finished and just filling out their longest tail feathers now.

She’s gonna be cold.
I noticed tonight when I did their bed-check that she was actually snuggled up against Dolly which is a rarity since she’s kind of a bee-otch and the others give her plenty of space at night.
It made me almost wish I had a few more chickens.
