Official Squatch Watchers

Ok Walmart #2 yielded one package out of 13 with just two, possibly three smaller bumbles.
(Didn’t make it to the third Walmart today)

I feel like the bumblefoot police and am imagining myself in the security tapes.
March in.
Rake through the chicken paws.
Take pictures.
Leave.

I’ll be known as the weird lady in the red coat. :gig

@apryl29 , im with you! I’m hoping that the people who eat them on the reg. know which ones to throw away.
Like their mom or grandmom told them -“See this? It’s nasty. Don’t eat this one.”

I'm sure the security people are just looking at the videos like WTF is she doing?

Girl, you're in there playing with packs of chicken feet. Honestly i'm proud and really tickled at it all. You are doing stuff that wal-martians might find strange. Just for that i'd hug you in half.:gig
Like my hat? The chickens are not fans. They're going to have to let me have this though, it is wool! :pView attachment 1614531
Cute hat! Hopefully they don't get close enough to your head to steal it.

Guys, look at the stupid I found on this site's FB group.

Wow. Just.... wow.

Duh! I had a friend that had some sort of pet opossum. They were little exotic things. Mean as all get out.
I had a friend who had a pet skunk, but it was descented and was raised to be a pet, not just taken out of the wild. They got rid of it, but I'm not sure why.

Really though bless her heart but she should know that possum selfies are never a good idea. Those things have more teeth than a t-rex. I get she's soft and not a murderer but don't snuggle it! Not a possum hater, they have their place but it isn't in the coop and it sure isn't drooling on your sweater while you take a dang selfie...maybe i'm just out of touch but i'm kind of glad.:)
No.. possum lovin' is not normal at all.

Wow, that's beautiful! Kinda jealous. I bet your kids love it.

Quite the start to my day.... something bowled through the chicken fence. It's bent pretty good and the hooks I was using are straight out the wrong direction. So what I hoped would be the first day they would come out in about a week is another day of lockdown in the coop. I knew I needed to finish the fence but I wasn't expecting it to be completely torn off the building. Reassures my instinct to do a door from the coop to the run not a gate on the run.
Lost another hen too. The 2nd Cuckoo Marans. Another Necropsy is in order. I'm guessing much the same as her sister. She was walking around, if a bit subdued, yesterday.
:hugs I wonder if it's something that the cold is bringing out. Like it's weakening b/c they're trying to keep warm so you're seeing the problems. Kinda like Jaiden last winter.. she seemed off and was puffed up all the time, but was eating & moving around, just cold & losing weight, then turned out to have a tumor.

Ok peeps. I have a case # with the “chicken paws” inspectors.
They will be checking out the packing plant.

I’m to expect a follow up in a few weeks.
Great to hear. Hopefully it'll be taken care of and won't happen again.

The fence was a shock. Looked like a cartoon when they roll a boulder down hill and the fence bends around it then sends the boulder back.

The chickens sadly was not a surprise. I'm thinking hatchery chick genetic issues. She's in cold storage till necropsy can be done. I'm expecting much the same.

It was suggested I get rid of the last 2 Flowers. That they are possibly harboring something that will just eventually run through the clock. I'm not sure on that.... and if they all already have it.... I'm not doing a massive cull and starting over.

I agree w/ Rae.. it doesn't sound like a disease per se.. culling everyone just seems wrong to me. I just wouldn't be adding any more bird right now. Wait til next spring/ summer after the cold has passed and wait til you've gone a while w/ no losses to add. If there's still a problem at that point then nature will take care of it for you.

It's really hard to get a flat picture of grid fencing.

So it's bent at that first green post. So hard it popped the ties off. Then creased around the leg of the carport frame. The fence was hooked just past the red on the building.View attachment 1615386
All 4 hooks look like that.

You can see the boulder shaped indent in the fence. And the lake from all the snow melting.
I'd go w/ 21's idea to use the 1x4 to secure the fence to the building. I did the same, but used a 1x2. I staple gunned the fence to one side and rolled the fence around it so it's wrapped, then attached it. Your back side photo looks good, as long as you're sure it's going to hold... I might use the wood on top anyway though. Use screws to hold it in place. Also, I'd use nylon pull ties to attach your hardware wire to the fence posts. The thicker ones, not the super thin 3" ones. I used wood over wire everywhere the fence hit the building.

The lavender guineas have been picked up! The chicken yard is much more quiet now. The pearls aren't nearly as flighty as the lavenders and alarm much less frequently.

I have a massively nasty headache today. I really hope it goes away soon.
Did you have to get them into a cage at night?

I went into the coop last night with a red headlight and fished them out and into a large dog crate. When the guy came to get them, I stood the crate on end covered the door with a towel so they couldn't see to jump out and fished them out blindly after taking a quick peek to see where a leg would be easy to grab. They are harder to deal with than chickens because they fly so much better.

Popping in to say Hey!
:frow:frow:frow:frow:frow
Trying to get this house spitspot before the kids come home for the holidays!
:wee:wee

I don’t want them to think: “She hasn’t done anything since last year, except talk to her friends on her chicken website, lock herself in her writing room and take pictures of the pets with her phone....” :barnie
:ducSHHHHhhhhhhhh! :duc

ACT STRAIGHT EVERYBODY!
:gig:gig:gig:gig:gig:gig:highfive:

Oh btw.
Here’s a few pics of the pets...

The ones at my Grand Parents place were crazy! I do not think it would be easy to get them at all.

Thanks for the tip on managing them

No problem yeah, you either want to grab them firmly by the body over the wings or by both legs. And you can't catch them by the tail like chickens. Their tail feathers come RIGHT off.
