Official Squatch Watchers

You can't really hear them if they are in the coop. Sorta "Did I hear a rooster? No. Must not have."
Outside Pat's voice definitely carries. I was laughing today cause he had a morning practice session. He must have yelled "F__k it!" a dozen times in less then 10 min. Luckily the other boys didn't feel the need to show him how it's done. I don't think I've ever heard Jr crow. It's mostly the white OE. Sometimes the black OE will throw one in. Then Pat..."F__ck it!"
If the neighbors complain I think I'll tell them Pat has tourettes and can't help it.
He's just a bit peeved that everyone kept calling him a girl & now he's got to make it known that he is a MAN!

And Rene, lol I worry about that girl. Sallie and her sleep together, a couple nights Sallie slept with Ethel and Dutch due to Rene being mean. Tonight Sallie came back, her butt in Rene's face Rene's in hers were how they roosted. Rene starts pecking Sallie's butt so I put my hand in between to scoot meanie over and she bites me! Yeah, grabbed some knuckle skin and shook!....omg what? I kept scooting! Little butterball pushes into my hand like she's going to move me, really puts her whole stumpy little body into it making that angry little grunty noise. By this time i'm about to pass out laughing. What in the world have I raised ya'll? :lau
That's how Toothless is! Snippy little broads.. And when I hand feed Loki scratch (b/c I feel bad for her being this sad little molty mess) she keeps trying to eat my palms. I'm surprised she hasn't ripped out a chunk. I have a couple that I've noticed who are quite mean w/ each other. The 2 white ones fight over the end and will climb over others pecking back and forth to get the 'good spot'. When I go in after dark and try to scoop poop they'll get peck with each other b/c my flashlight makes them think it's time to start a fight. Just like little kids in the back seat of a car.

I haven't updated on Glayds in a while. Worried I'll jinx it.

She's standing. Well, as much as Glayds can stand. I know it doesn't look like much but for a little while she wouldn't even lift herself off her legs. I know she won't ever be a normal chicken again. I really thought about culling her. But she seems ok mentally. She talks and happily splattered me with some applesauce earlier. She's eating like a champ and pooping like one too. If I thought she was depressed I'd end it for her but she really acts like a chicken.
She doesn't look too bad. Is her hock still infected or has that cleared up? Make sure you have plenty of ventilation if you put her out over summer. My coop is always the same temp as outside and at 90+ I worried about Loki in there sitting on her nest with no real breeze & not being able to go outside.

20mil 2.27% I dont have any way to weigh her but I'm guessing not more than 2 lbs

Ok, so a 2lb bird weighs almost 1kg. (2.2 pounds per kilogram)
2.27% is 22.7mg/ml which means there is 22.7mg of medicine in 1ml of liquid.
Recommended dosage I found on the previously linked thread is 10mg/kg (some vets prescribe as much as 15)
So a bird that is roughly 2lb would need about 0.5ml of liquid to get the recommended medicine. Twice a day!

Here's an article on how to administer, with some great pics. I assume you have a syringe? Orally is easiest for me. Not sure which way you want to go.

I think i'm going to survive, but that door won't be messing with ME anymore!:gig
YOUCH!
That's a bad way to start the day! I hope it doesn't go hurting all day.

I am up and reasonably functional.

More wind for us today. I am hoping that I can get some more good fun time outside for the pup. She likes to run and play in the sunshine.

One thing I need to address is a neighbors cat harassing my chickens.
I finally got a good look at the cat yesterday. Its a big buff color cat with a blue collar.
I had been running out several times a day to panic in the coop.......I heard it go over the fence a few times.
Live trap and a ride to the pound. No I don't tolerate loose cats. I get really sick of finding cat poop in my garden beds.
:sick

Pullets, I'll be selecting for the same things + the color and clarity of their lacing.
This girl's lacing is beautiful, but her coloring is too light. I might keep her as a layer or sell her as pet quality or someone who wants to improve their lacing.

It is great that you are working on Dark Cornish!

I was originally hoping to get LF Whites, but these were available and close enough for me to pick them up on the way home from a business trip.

I got a really good start from a guy who successfully shows his birds in VA. This trio was his "second best" grow outs from last year. I have to say, this variant is really growing on me.

Here is what the parents looked like when I got them.

This is what they looked like this summer.

This hen was broody and sitting on eggs at this point.

Their sons that I had butchered all had really nice carcasses.

You are doing a nice job with them!

How are they at laying eggs? When I had Bresse, they were very good egg layers too.
