Official Squatch Watchers

I have some exciting news. As you all remember, our Standard poodle Sawyer passed away in Sept. My DH took it really hard and hasn't even wanted to discuss a puppy. I on the other hand found a breeder in southern Ohio that breeds red Standards. After researching lots of breeders I decided on this one. Retired school teachers, raise the puppies in their house. Have been breeding for 15 years. Website is wonderful with lots of pics of previous litters, pics of the puppies parents along with their health testing. They even have a poodle puppy every year and invite all previous puppies and their owners. Liked everything about them. So I had her put me on a waiting list. This was last Oct. Never told my DH as he didn't want to talk about a new puppy. I figured I'd cross the bridge when I came to it. Well I came to the bridge....the lady emailed me and said she has a litter due March 11th. The very next day out of the blue DH said. I think I'm ready to start thinking about a new puppy . Is that kismet or what? Needless to say we will be getting a puppy sometime in early May. Yippee!!!!

Suzi, I'm so happy for you!!!!

Sounds like it was meant to be. I'm glad your hubby came around! :wee

It's a flat panel heater.....actullay looks just like a flat screen tv. It's a radiant heater so doesn't get too hot and it's safe to use in a coop. You can wall mount it or use the feet and just stand it up. I have mine standing against the back wall and my roosts run across in front of it. I got it at Rural King for 40 bucks

I worry too about the frigid cold coming but truthfully my Seramas are almost the same size as my D'ucclle and she did fine last winter. I really believe they are hardier than they are given credit for. I know their are some Serama owners up in MI and they don't use any additional heat source . Just dry and draft free coops

I think Seramas are hardier too!! Mine have done fine with the 20 degree weather and my little Sweeter Heater so far this winter I just worry about the dramatic drop we are supposed to get tomorrow. 51 to 6 is a big difference. Definitely gonna put them in the garage till the tems normalize a bit.

I'm really liking the look of that Cozy Coop heater. They have them on MPC for 39 bucks. That is pretty cheap compared to the SHs!! Too bad TSC doesn't have them, I'd snag one up today...

That is a big sudden drop. It has been in the upper 20s here so the fluctuation won't be as dramatic. It's only supposed to be in the teens and single digits for 2 days then back up into the upper 20s and low 30s.

Thanks.....I really miss having a dog

Yeah dude, I know the feeling. It's awful!!!! I could never be dogless. I've always had a pack, for my entire adult life.

Except...when my sweet Abby girl died, and my dog aggressive pit, Solstice, was alone (he had an autoimmune disease and lasted about 6 months after Abby and I could not get another dog when he was still alive, as it would not have been fair).

When I finally had to put him to sleep (I was a vet at the time so thankfully was able to do it myself--at home in bed--for both of them) it was the first time that I did not have a dog. It was awful. I could not stand the quiet, dogless, soulless house. I asked my boss at the time if I could borrow his small mutt, Charlie, to sleep with so I could have a dog in my house for a day or so. He thought I was weird, but he let me.

The next week, my husband and I went to a pit bull rescue and got Bucco. That sweet boy has been the love of my life for th last 8 years, next to DH! :love

I am happy for you! You need that sound of little feet running around the house, the happy little puppy noises, the feel of a warm doggie nestled in your lap, and the sweet smell of puppy breath when that little baby is kissing your face!! Too bad you have to wait till May....

I know.....right now looking outside May sure seems a looooong ways away. My DH travels a lot for work...sometimes gone for weeks at a time. Without a dog its very lonely.

I just bought one from MPC! I wish a local supplier sold them, but they don't. So I will only have to put the littles in the garage this one time.

Do we have the most spoiled chickens in the world, or what?!:lau

I wish you lived closer. I'd loan you evil Emma.... ;)

:(
I see a new Kindle in your future!

It's not to bad to fix. A new screen is $25. Luckily I worked in manufacturing 20+ years and can do the repair myself.
A local shop can do it but charges $80..... Um no since a new one is like $50.

Even if I totally destroy it I am $5 ahead. :p
