Just popping in real quick. I've been on vacation all week and it is amazing and I wish I didn't have to go back to work on Monday. Dance Competition went great. My daughter's dances each got a platinum and the judges Choice Award. Cleaned the coop today & they better appreciate it! Klaus's other frostbitten toe fell off today so I'm waiting for antibiotics from the vet's office and she gets to be a basement chicken until her toe heals over. I noticed her toenail was twisted and didn't look quite right and in the struggle to pick her up the whole thing popped off so that worked out well. It looks pretty clean so I hope it heals fast.
@FlyingNunFarm The vet in Middlefield who sees chickens is now in the offices in Garrettsville and Champion in case you ever need to call. Also I saw this on Facebook and thought of you! It's at the Portage County APL.

My one Egger had a dirty butt and I finally got a chance to soak her today and after I cleaned her up I was looking at her area and notice something that looked strange to me and I don't know if it's just because she had poop stuck to her butt for so long or if it's something else I need to worry about, but has anybody ever seen this?

More specifically the edge of the cloaca towards the top of the picture. To me it looks like it's chapped or irritated but I want to make sure that it's not something else. She is still laying eggs because I've been getting 4 eggs from my Eggers pretty frequently. After I soaked her and picked off as much, for lack of a better word, dingleberries as I could I let her go and she was cleaning her legs and preening. She's eating fine. I saw her poop once and it seemed to be mostly liquid but I don't know if that's typical of her.
Hope all is well w everyone. I'll try to catch up on the highlights later on.

@apryl29 Just what I need...a pig! LOL If they didn't get so big I wouldn't mind. They are very smart. But 300 lbs running around is a bit much.

I did get bad news today. Cause being sick and wrecking my car weren't enough. Only 2 of the 10 chicks I ordered are available. Yep...2! Right now I added to gold laced wyandotte to the order so I have 4. (Those and 2 crested cream legbar) But an hour and half drive for 4 chicks.
So I put in a call to a lady who isn't far away but I have a terrible time getting a hold of. Left a msg explaining what happened and asked if she has any available. My broody mamma is waiting!
