My tiny human is home w/ a migraine she's had for the past 2 days. I spent a couple hours writing up an email to her principal b/c I keep getting 'your kid is missing a lot of days' letters from them. How can I send her to school when she's sick. I know the understand, but it's soooo freakin' annoying. It's not like I took her out of school to go on a trip that could have been sched during a break or something like that. She's sick & she's suffered for several days already... I'm keeping her home so maybe she'll get better and go back tomorrow.
 
Good morning! Cloudy but still very nice and warm out here. Hubs is off cutting grass, not that he wants to be.
He got another "clean up your crap" notice from the county and only had till the 3rd to do it. He'll learn one day...maybe.
Lulu and Hobo are sharing a nest this morning and both my broody girls actually took care of themselves! Going to be a weird day, can already tell.:)

Here they will send the police after the parents for absences.

To be safe, get a Dr. note.

Apryl they really don't care. It's all about number to them. You do what's right for you little one. I miss the days when the school thought it worked for the parent.

This is mostly true.

They will claim that it is for student learning though. There are studies that show school attendance being correlated to academic success

He won't learn. My ex never did. He'd go a month w/o cutting it b/c "it rained", then we'd get a write up and he'd have a big fit (how dare they!), then cut it and then wait til they complained again... UNLESS his parents were coming over... then he'd be sure and mow b/c he dad would always comment on it. That's like that one good thing about his parents coming over. Every year, for 5 years. YOU SHOULD KNOW BY NOW! and if I commented that he needed to mow before we got written up he'd get mad at me... apparently he didn't have eyes.

They don't do that here unless you don't call them off. They have a 'hey your kid isn't at school' message that goes out now so even if I forget they remind me. She gets good grades & is in Beta club, is in 8th grade, but taking 9th grade classes... so academically she's doing fine, but it's a numbers thing. They used to be 15 days a semester before they complained, but now it's by the hours and she's probably at 16 days total for the year, but it's like 112 hrs which makes it sound horrible. It's 16 days people... 16 days out of 150, calm down.

I call bull on that. When I was in HS I had a very hard time my junior year. My anxiety really kicked in around that time and people at school bullied me. Making the anxiety worse. And I say people because yes staff where also a problem.
I missed in all a semester of school. What didn't make sense was even though the school was complaining about the missed days of I would have shown up they would have expelled me for being truant. Not exactly how you get someone to come back. So with some arguing and finagling I finished my junior year.
Now I call bull about attendance being in correlation with performance. I only needed my first semester of my senior year to graduate. So in all I took a year off school and graduated with a B average.
