@staceyj Update on me.

I found out I have a little bit of glucose intolerance (but not bad enough to be classified as GD) but I found a way to manage it with diet.

Thing 1 is getting smarter by the day and has an incredibly high pain tolerance. Today he discovered why we've been keeping him away from electric fences. I FINALLY got an electrician out here to set up our service boxes and we were walking the property to figure out what to do with a dirt pile in the back yard that is right were the power company wants to put a pole. Thing 1 was walking along and I hear him start saying in a monotone, repetitive way "Oww. Oww. Oww." I look at him and he is up the hill from me holding onto the electric fence (that my neighbor uses to keep his cows in, which are currently on our property). I tell him to let it go. He says in a very calm matter of fact voice "Fence, Oww." I remember the first time I got shocked by an electric fence. I was crying.
:frowRae,
So glad you are managing it and even more glad that it’ll go away once you deliver

:eek: On thing-1, maybe holding it made his brain go on a loop! :gig

He’s at the coolest age. I always loved that period of their development. Every day you could see the emergence of a new skill or a new level of comprehension of something just the day before, they couldn’t.

Yup, I'm glad too. Maybe I had a little of this last time which caused Thing 1 to be 11lb 4oz (though it wasn't so uncontrolled that it would necessarily be even be close to most of the reason he was that heavy, he's a big boy with a big mama).

LOL I know. It's so weird how he reacts to things. Oh, since I've been testing my blood sugar, I have to prick my finger to get blood to test. Well, Thing 1 started asking me to "Make the finger bleed." while holding his finger out to me. I put him off for a couple of weeks, but, one day, he pestered me so much about it that I did pick his finger with the lancet in hopes that he would stop asking. Nope. Now every time he sees the testing equipment out he says "Wanna make the finger bleed!" He also likes me putting my blood pressure cuff on him and he frequently asks me to "Squeeze da arm!" He's a weird kid.

Rae sounds like you have a kid who will not be afraid of doctors. Maybe he will even become one. Kids that seem "weird" usually are "gifted," which isn't diagnosed till later. They see things in different ways. Before my son could read, he would study operation manuals and be able to set and run complicated machinery, just by seeing diagrams. Had to keep an eye on him.
