Official Squatch Watchers

I hid on the porch the first shot i'm all too aware of how they can be and how slooow I am.
Oh if a derp escapes and Biddy dosent catch it don't worry it will just stand and scream.:lau
Mostly I was worried he may do a run at you. Nasty mean buggers.

We tried that and it made it worse for him. Poor old dude just absolutely hates loud noises.

We had a Derp escape this morning.
She hopped out as I was going into the coop.
No worries mom was hot on her heels to bring her back inside.
:lau

I think the 4 pack is just about ready to be turned loose with the big hens. No one is puffing up at the fence at all.

Maybe put cotton balls in his ears if it is thundering?

I think he senses/feels it before it hits. It's ok we have been 10+ years with him hating loud stuff.

At his age I doubt we have much longer. :(

Chicky, It was hilarious how bitty hopped out the doir, found the chick and hopped back in repeatedly until baby got the tater back inside.

She is such a careful mama.

She kind of has to be a super careful mama, she dosent have much choice at this point.
Oh the weaning is going to be heartbreaking, they really, really, really get attached to mom.
Stock up on kleenex.:p

She will likely mother them for a year.

She takes food to Miss May still and before babies was cramming herself in the nest box with her at night way before she went broody.
She raised May a looooooong time ago.

Her first group she still mothered at a year old too.

So PERFECT! You just don't know lol! :)
Mine are getting defiant, i'm going to have to do a fence check and set them loose really soon.
They rushed out of the pen into the coop today with several of the girls in there. Good news, not a single peck was given even running in the box with Rene.

That's awesome! I really hope everyone keeps their beaks to themselves.

Self integration can work really well.
