At least it wasn't a sharpie. :th

I agree with your sister. :highfive:

He is old enough to help clean small things up too. Good teaching moments. :D

Does he have a table his size he can do drawing at? I really liked having a designated art table for mine. Mine used it for coloring, legos, watercolors, clay and so much more.

Not at the moment. It's something to consider.
:pop:lovewhat did he draw?
A 2ft long line. Easy enough to clean up.

Parrots eat anything, just for fun. Preferred: electric cords, molding & trim including window sills. They chew the bars of their cages, so no galvanized wires. You have to combine baby-proofing with puppy-proofing to have parrots. Dylan will not get to visit the guest house, needless to say!
I had a bun that liked electric cords. I have a friend that said every cat she's ever had liked to chew power cords.

Lead paint is supposed to be tasty, that is what my grandma said anyway. She didn't eat it but dutch boy gave school kids little tins of paint and some of the hungrier ones did partake. Update on the banana paradox. I have one single child that will eat the hell out of a banana. My little Prince gets the googly eyes and beak smacks. :)

He won't like it but 1/2 tsp of immodium will shut his butt.
Can't stress enough, he won't like it. ;)
At least you have on bird w/ a little sense.

I appreciate all the suggestions and thoughts but Jr seized in my arms and died. Made one final sad noise and that was it. I just pet him and told it was ok.

So 3 birds in 3 days...I’m done. No more losses. I just can’t take it.
:hugs

My bird vet tests Dylan's blood every year at the Bird Annual Physical -- and she asked me if Dylan likes bananas, because the potassium level in her blood was too high. Dylan hates bananas, so she was worried. Later when I got home, I remembered she was having a bite of my potato salad the day before her visit to the vet. It is possible for a bird to OD on bananas (or potatoes). Vet told me to limit high potassium treats, that bird kidneys are not great at excreting it.
Oh, that's good to know. It was on the chicken safe list so I never considered. I guess everything in moderation... I don't feed mine potatoes & when I do it's usually left over mashed potatoes so there isn't much.

My birds eat pretty much anything except leafy greens. People always rave about their birds getting into the garden and killing off their lettuce or cabbage crop. Can't get mine to eat that stuff no matter how many times I try. Anything with seeds on the inside. Tomatoes are always a favorite. They do get quite a few bananas. But 3-4 bananas split between 20 birds isn't a lot per bird. Today they had mango, apricot, and nectarine.

I'm wondering if something I had given them for a treat went bad and they ate it anyway. It was so humid in the coop the other day the strawberries I put out in the morning were moldy by that evening. If I didn't see it and they ate it they could have gotten sick and probably pretty fast.

That's what's so weird. The little Spitz seemed a little off. I certainly wasn't thinking it was going to die.

The Marans was definitely having crop issues. Slow and sour. She was pooping so something was getting through but she was very gassy. Again not really expecting to find her gone. I actually wonder if she aspirated. She would lay down and push her own crop and liquid would come out. I had given her only water and monistat but she could have drank enough to do it.

Jr was fine this last weekend. He was second to Pat and I would see some chasing going on but haven't seen a squabble in months. Monday morning when I went out his comb was blackened. But I worked out there all day and he seemed fine. His comb reddened up again. Then it was dark again Tues morning. I went to work in the day then again at night and when I did bed checks it was dark still. Not sure if it reddened up in the day or not. That's why I brought him in. I wanted to see how he was by himself. I know it was past roost time but he seemed stoned. I offered him a raw egg. He just looked at it. I left the light on in the garage today but he seemed to stay just laying down. I got back from the store with some cottage cheese for him and that's when he died. I brought him into the sunshine with the food but he wasn't interested at all.

The only thing they all have in common is living conditions. All different ages, different sexes, different breeds. Yet their symptoms aren't the same..... IDK.:(
Your losses are very confusing. Did you check for any mushrooms that might be growing from all the rain and moisture we've had? I know I saw one in the yard at my dad's place the other day. I wouldn't expect a moldy strawberry to bother them enough to kill them though. Could it have been someone used rat poison and your birds ate the rodent? IDK what the symptoms are for that.

Well I learned about a thing today I knew more than norhing about if you don't know what it is be glad ....Bartholin's cyst.
When 74 year olds tell you about their doctors appointments if you don't learn something new and terrifying you didn't try hard enough.
I swear that neighbor lady lives and breathes to scare the sh*t out of me whenever possble, she's like a second mom. :)
Thanks.. something I didn't really want to know.

My sister's response "Well, at least he's comfortable telling you the truth."
Oh NO! Lol.

A budding artist and already a tot of outstanding moral character!
Round up all the writing instruments, a big mayo jar or pasta container is good for this!

It’s time for a little easel Rae!

Or a nice sized whiteboard hung at his height in a very visible area in your kitchen or family room.

Or a toddler sized table and chair set and a ream of paper.

Somewhere in the sight-line of where you know you’ll be parked with T-2.

Oh the fun is just beginning!

Mostly the vet was worried about the blood level when I told her Dylan hates bananas -- when I called her and told her that I remembered her eating potatoes, the vet said that made her feel better about the blood results, just don't over do the treats. Since African Greys are so long-lived and live in the house, they get more health problems from the American Diet! The same problems as old people get, one is kidney trouble. Like you say, moderation! Just thought I would share that, since the learning is very costly for me, and chickens do not get their blood tested annually!

It's always good to know this stuff.. most of us are completely in the dark about stuff until we have to deal with it, then we muddle through it until the next surprise.

Magic erasers are your friend
Except on wallpaper! I made that mistake at my mom's house.. pen on wallpaper.

Good morning! Haven't been awake long and already feel terrible. Went to pop the coop and apparently all the littles had relocated to the people door and slept there.
My door opens outward so derps fell out everywhere drowsy, very much round enough to roll derps.
I'm so glad I peed before I went out.:gig

Big fat zero here! It won't last long it never does way too peaceful they can't have that. :D
I lifted the cover to the pen I have the younger quail in a bit too soon after turning the light on. One of them was able to fly out. He then made thier little crow so he will likely become dinner but I have not decided yet. he is a very pretty white with a spot or two.

These quail are very tame and easy to catch so it was not a problem. Usually the fly up and hit the foam floor insulation I have on the top of the pen.

Quail can kill them selves by banging their heads so I have to be careful!
