If you see her start to shake put your hand on her back. It stops them from shaking.

My girl has a lion mane around her neck. It's like a quadruple coat. Rediculous amounts of fur. And I can brush her first but it doesn't matter. O have to clear the drain 2-3 times while bathing.

She has been bathed!! :celebrate

Way easier with a second set of hands.

Me alone is....
Hold her collar with one hand, sprayed with the other, drop sprayer grab soap while she fights the collar holding, squirt and scrub while she fights the collar holding. Then try to rinse as she fights the collar holding.
Never do get to properly wash her neck that way.

This time...
My son carried her to the tub and got in with her. I was able to remove her collar, wet, soap and rinse her with zero fight.
He was a body block with hands on her shoulders.
We even got her somewhat dried off before the exit.

Seriously it took less than 10 minutes.
What a difference!

That wet dog shake is awful if you cannot stop it in time. Good tip about a hand on the back stopping it.

I am glad none of mine have that thick cattle dog neck fur. Seriously hard to get that wet let alone rinsed well!

My old shepherd mix had crazy thick fur. I had to hand strip her haunches every spring. I could have built a mid sized dog with that stripping!

Of course Sable has me on a list now.....pretty sure from the stink eye I am getting it ain't the favorite people's list. :lau

When my girl got that nasty skin infection under her collar I told the vet I felt so bad cause how did I not notice. "You couldn't ask for thicker fur. Well you could but you wouldn't get it!" LOL

I remember that hot spot. No way you could see that before it got bad with all that fur.

Good news with the baths is no fleas found. Lots of dirt but no fleas.

I'm glad none of the other chickens take the kids bloody murder screams seriously.
So flipping dramatic, every single one just scream their heads off if I pick them up. They get on me though they whimper and beep.
Weird kids.

The screaming is so freaking overly dramatic. :lau
The beeping is kind of silly and cute at the same time.
:love

Hi everyone,

Wow, I can't keep pace with you guys.

Things are a little rough here. All 4 of us, including the baby, have caught a mild, but annoying GI bug. No puking (Thank heaven!) but we are all feeling icky, cranky, and crappy (literally and metaphorically).

Well, I'm off to bed, if only the Milk Drinker will let me sleep.

Get some rest and we will be here when you're back.

Feel better soon!

Gah it is like you're absolutely killing them.
All I was doing was a gentle pick up and scoot the drama was quite unessary.
Seriously once they're on my hand or arm iv'e got to scrape them off.
Such mixed messages, they are adorable though. :)
