It rained here finally. Stuff just grows better with rain water. Everything smells fresh outside.
I think all of mine are in some stage of molt. My 3 production birds who I'm certain haven't laid since they decided to start molting in the spring are ALMOST finished molting. Apparently Klaus was my only brown layer who was laying usable eggs b/c the only brown eggs I've gotten since last week are the misshapen eggs that always break.Such a contrast out there, one group of pretty little chickens and one group of molters which they look baaaad.
I'm glad they can't see themselves, so much pink out there!

I was literally hand picking feathers from the run sunday. They were all over the place, but I didn't want to rake it out b/c 1/2 the dirt would have come with them. Why are chickens so hard? It looks so easy in movies.This year's molt is so freaky.
Rene has done the naked in a day thing.
She has a thin coat that you can see through at all angles so she looks like a tumbleweed.
The coop is just a hell scape of turds and feathers.
for the flock losses. DD#2 lost two of her rat girls yesterday. Both were almost 3, which is decent for typical domestic rats. They were sisters, Emily and LisaLisa.

Fun time, I saw a guy wearing short shorts and his "baby bird" was peeping out the leg.
I think I burnt my eyes.
Then this morning she gets up and says it hurts and she can't put weight on it. I'm 97% sure she's lying but I let her lying butt stay home today. Tomorrow she's going to school WITH the immobilizer. This is why animals eat their young.
Maybe she enjoys the sound the boys make and is jealous.I really hope she phases that noise out i'm not enjoying it lol!
It sounds like she's on death's door and I know she's trying to make the noise she does that tip toe neck stretching thing like a rooster.
She's been wearing that noise out since I let them out of the coop.

Tiny human managed to dislocate her knee on Friday before the football game. She was at the school, supposed to mark and was screwing around and it popped out. Took her to the er and they said it looked ok, but to see an ortho. I got an appt for Wed. She had visitation and naturally she didn't wear the immobilizer while she was there. They were out and about and she went too, w/ a knee brace or crutches...
For the tiny human. For the extreme frustration.
