Oh why don't you want little Dip and Dot to see snow?
Do you think there will be drama??:gig

Well I looked and we are actually 32° right now.

I will get the rest of the plastic on the hoop run this morning.
Lord knows the Derps do not need to see snow. :lau

I just squealed the most god awful squeal of joy!! That Blossom is a tough cookie.:ya
Blossom update: after several weeks as a house chicken, she has made a full recovery :wee

This week she will be moving outside and starting integration into her new flock.

Pics from my parents. The random purple feathers are from blukote.

The catch 22 is if the wind is really whipping. It does manage to blow a bit of snow in. I had to add baffles in 10° weather to slow it down.
I have that problem w/ the vents I have. It's like the wind hits the side of the coop and blows the snow up into the vents & it snows inside. When that starts happening I get cardboard to put over the vents on the sides. It doesn't seem to happen as much from the front.

I got corrugated plastic from Home Depot. I managed to get it put in so I can adjust it as needed. If course I didn't take pics. It's ugly but works. It looks like white cardboard so definitely not in the roofing section.
The soffits on my big coop are 14' long. :th

HAHAHAHA!!:lau:lau:lau:gig:gig
I do believe the drama button will be pushed by snow.
I also think Dip is my layer in that coop. I get an egg 5 out of 7 days and there is NO way my aging cochins are making those.
:gigEven in their prime my giant cochins only have me 2 eggs a week each. These eggs are WAY to big to be from the bantams.

@apryl29 I will sign the reroute slip for snow! Make it more official with multiple signatures. Pretty sure I could get a few more folks to sign as well.

The ozonator would drive them out. They wouldn't stay to be suffocated unfortunately. They have been getting sprayed and then when they congregate, smooshed! Nastly little things. For those of you who would like to look...

Poor Clayton after his 2nd or 3rd treatment. I still couldn't kill them all.

My washing machine. :sick

Little nasty under the microscope. That was taken down the eye piece with my phone. LOL I'll be getting better pictures.

I should never have looked!!!
:: Shudder ::

Those nasty nasty bugs omg!

I know you are spraying.....is it elector or permethrin?

Seriously the store was out when I was in a panic to find some perimethrin. I grabbed bed bug spray. It stopped them in their tracks. I have no idea what the active ingredient was because it was many years ago. I just remember being amazed.

I've used both! And ivermectin topically! Now I've gone to permethrin on the notion that maybe my Elector is old. It should never go bad and I stored it properly but who knows. They are direct from Hell! And I'm sending them back one palm smash at a time!

What's crazy is Clayton had more mites on him then Pat. Some birds have none. I know if they don't feel well they are more of a target but yikes!

I would mix some permethrin in a spray bottle and directly spray the birds too.
Permethrin has not failed me yet.

Oh they have been sprayed till dripping. With poor Clayton when I would hold him to try and treat him bugs would run up my arms. He was so covered but oddly no eggs

I do believe permethrin is the active ingredient in bed bug sprays and bomb. I thought about bombing my laundry room but I'm worried about the cats.

Definitely do not bomb with cats around at all. They are WAY to sensitive to it.

Son of a gun!!
Resistant?
Maybe sevin dust?
It is a different active ingredient and sucks like heck to use a powder....
I know it is not approved for poultry in the US but dang! Gotta try something.
