He's a beautiful mistake. Squatch and his brother Sid were both vent sexed as a black jersey giant pullets.

I'm keeping Squatch, but his offspring are meat chicks. I don't even eat meat, but my family does so I am doing the raising and butchering for them. I might sell some of the pullets in a few months because I would like to see them live their life laying eggs. I'm going to keep a few of the pullets myself.

The chicks had wattles at day 15! I had to jump into the brooder with my socks on to save two of them because all the other chicks were attacking them trying to rip their wattles off! these chicks have been quite the learning experience!

I have 9 more in the incubator from Squatch, but different pullets/hens in the flock. A Cochin and barred rock.

That chick is a red sex link/jersey giant.

If I get any time to myself before noon this week i'll probably explode lol.
The boys are being jerks "Negan mostly" he has big daddy syndrome and Barb is back on the coop roof so yeah just brats all around.


Yep, that pretty much how it is.
Only took one time of not poopin for almost a full month to put the brakes on the meat.
I looked like E.T with boobs, it wasn't pretty.

So you eat vegetarian, but your spouse doesnt?

I'm plant based and my whole family eats meat. I did it for health reasons. Plus I'm allergic to dairy and red meat.

Yes! This is part of those gremlins. I put up all that fencing so they couldn't get out and they haven't even ventured out of their coop! What a waste! By the time they venture out they'll be double the size
