Preach!
*slowly eyeballs ancient b.b gun in the corner*
It was a kind of sh*t job in fairness.
Takes a billion bb's to kill a little thing but just one to piss off a big thing.
Luckily kids are fast.
I wonder if that homestead show goes on the assumption that the people will take care of predators. Chicken wire used to work because it was stronger but also because every kid had a bb gun and job.

@CSAchook
Dissertation research, wow you make me feel old Chooky like dust and bats flying out my b-hole old.
I had one of those peeping toy chicks too, but I was like 20 and wore it out.
I had you quoted, it go

You aren’t old silly. I have just been in school foreeeeeeeevvvvvvver. And I have the gray hairs to prove it :old

But the real reason I mention the trip (other than poking fun at myself for spending all week thinking it is Friday) is because, depending on my internet situation, I may not be around here at all next week. Don’t want any Squatchers to notice and start to worry :hugs

Hopefully you have fun on your research trip and get what you need too.
You can laugh at you thinking it Friday was way sooner now, just wait though one day it will be pretty much every week.
It is still hilarious though.:)

Good morning, im still calling it morning im on my first coffee lol!
Actual morning was spent getting cozy with the drainage ditches, really more fun than I should be allowed that early.
Apparently they aren't sufficient for monsoon season so when it dries up a bit they'll get dug out even more.
Water was nearly at the coop door on the walk in side.
And it is still freaking raining.:tongue

Still in awe, large appliances and their innards are beyond my grasp.
I can do little twinky stuff electronics, control boards, im even decent at engine mechanics washers/dryers/water heaters/ fridges are total kryptonite to me though.

Soooo, Chooky, Chooks what are you up to this weekend????😂
Sorry, I just could NOT resist!

@apryl29 There was a photo, but it is a catfishing photo for chirping chicks.
I am visually challenged, but not this bad. ;)

That's what I'd expect from a peeping chick ad. You could probably find buckets full of those at almost any dollar store or pharmacy near you. Easter stuff is out in full force. Not that I mind.. those Cadbury eggs are the most delicious almost liquid sugar things ever.

The dryer is reassembled and on its third load drying. So far no random shutting off.
The new parts are coming from 3 sources. All the parts have shipped already!

I kinda think the motor itself is actually ok and the roller is the main issue. I will see if I can get more failures over the next week waiting for parts to arrive.
Theory.....heavy loads of jeans or big loads of towels added to sticky roller push it over the edge.

Sooooooo......if I fix the dryer....That others said replace......do I get to keep the cost difference????
:gig
Yes. Always keep the difference. I'd got top of the line too so you get at least $700 extra spending cash. If you don't spend it all then you're saving money!

Anyone else see the show "Homestead Rescue" and yell at all he TV when they use chicken wire.....in places the owners have ALREADY LOST BIRDS TO PREDS?

🙄 Sheesh.....I hope it's not just me....
I had chicken wire up for a couple of years and it help up pretty well. I saw where some raccoons were tugging on it at the front run but they never got in. I did cover it with hardware cloth last summer b/c I could finally afford it. Honestly, if it hadn't started to rust I might not have replaced it. The cover is still chicken wire though. I've never seen anything try to enter from above besides little birds who go in through the holes. The larger run is covered w galvanized chicken wire which is nice (no rust), but it's really heavy. The larger run is a snow fence lined on the inside with chicken wire. I need to replace the top of the small run b/c the rusted wire makes me worry. My mom's decided to drag the house into their divorce so I'm not doing anything until I find out if the house will forced to be sold or not. I offered to see if I can buy it, but I honestly don't know if I'd be able to get a loan big enough, but in reality I'd just need to get enough to pay off my mom & then my dad & brother can keep living there. I've got 10 chickens left and while the #'s are going down until I'm at 0 I need somewhere for them to live.

Chicky try to stay above the water, I'm up to 4 1/2" inches today on top of the rest of the month, 6.2" and now they are calling for 1/2"-2" of snow tonight. And what ever this is seems to be heading directly toward you and Cappy.
I was wondering how things were at your place. I saw a photo of a school in TN where a bunch of school buses were completely underwater, you could only see the very top of them! I hope you're on higher ground.

Oh good lord Bob!
It hasn't stopped any all day long here as it is and Gatlinburg is flooding already im just sick to death of it.
My gauge is a little over 3 for the day, chickens sip out of it "found that out today" so it is probably more.
It's silly that you didn't think they'd be drinking out of the special water dish you left out for them.

Thanks, the river is in flood stage but we are safe here. Still two more inches of water to come, which means the river level will go up another 6 feet!
Oh wow. I hope it stops raining for you too! I know 1" of snow = ~6-12" of snow, but I think it'd probably be better to have at least some of it be snow.

Hopefully you have fun on your research trip and get what you need too.

☔☔☔☔
The temps look nice, but you can keep the rain.
We had ice last night & snow this morning. Schools are closed. it doesn't even seem that bad right now, but I guess back roads were icy when buses should have been going out.
This shows main street.
