That sounds horrifying Henny. :hmm
Morning everyone.

We got 5+ inches of snow overnight. It is a very wet heavy snow. All the lilacs are bent to the ground. I am sure the wire lid on her he chicken run is also rather saggy.

I know what my morning exercises will involve. 🤨 Yup, coat, hat, gloves, boots and a shovel.

I'm supposed to get 3-6" tonight :barnie I have 2 turkeys brooding where they will get snowed on

Id cry if it started snowing here, utterly inconsolable sobbing cry.
Iv'e had it with freaky weather lol.
You got your quack hut planned out yet?
Dumb question, iv'e never had ducks just geese but are they easier or harder to house than chickens?
Everybody iv'e seen "except moron guy" that keep ducks down here basically look like they make them little dog houses lol. :)
It is still snowing too. :sick

I am hoping with building my duck house I can also roof more of my big ole run.

I am guessing they are to skittish to be able to put an A frame over them. :(

Kind of. I am making it from pallets but it will get real siding. Hubs doesn't want them living in a "shack".
I KNEW as soon as we had ducks he would lurve them too.

The house will be roughly 8'x6'8" with the size of pallets I have.
The front will be a bit over 6' tall and the low wall a bit over 4'. Single slant roof.

Ducks are messy. They splash water everywhere and the poo is very runny so they have some special considerations needed with housing. That and those webbed feet compact the bedding while chicken feet scratch through and fluff it.

I will definitely be posting pics of what I make for them.

Sounds like a duck mansion Henny lol!
I do watch that 50ducksinahottub guy on youtube sometimes and he goes through all kinds of mess with those ducks "man has a billion freakin ducks though"
Sounds like there is a happy medium, albiet a poopy medium.
Iv'e never asked the duck/dog house people, they'd lie in a second just to lure a duck newbie into their world.
Us chicken people wouldn't know a thing about such a tactic. :D

S(he) is doing fine. Crop went down overnight and started eating and drinking as soon as I turned the lights on. No guineas buddies yet, but two look very promising.
