Official Squatch Watchers

Not my favorite thing either but I skipped last week due to laziness so I have to do it this week.:)

Me too Chicky. I was busy busy busy last week chasing a puppy so fell behind.

I think I will try to blast through a bit this afternoon when it is sweltering out.

For now....puppy is asleep. I think I will work on the ducky deck.

We have the sister in laws coming Friday and our electrician Sunday. Finally getting the garage wiring fixed and my shop.....just in time for me to move all my carp to the big coop....yes that is going to become my shop. Those birds will be sold or moved to the smaller coop.
or I kick hubs out of the 10x10 shed and take that as my shop....

I won't lie Henny I thought about skipping it again but if I did then id have to do the other thing I skipped last week weed trimming.
I hate weed trimming so im taking the lesser of two evils, at least house cleaning doesn't sling bugs in my hair. :D

I do think I will need to assign tasks to others. Things like bugs in hair should be other peoples tasks for sure! 🤔

Ducky deck.....I need at least 2 more 2x6 boards. I guess I could use 2x4's.....
I am making it hinged so I can air that ground out and do maintenance under it. I have to work around the ball valve and drain pipe so that is interesting.
It is already hot out too. Oh goodie.

Oh no! That could not have been fun to fix!
Same fix, Dawn dish detergent and a pan of warm water. Problem is even a little cockatiel has a strong parrot peak and can draw a little blood to pay you back for your trouble in saving her life! Then gently blow little miserable shivering bird.

Hi guys, its a beautiful day here.

I sold 3 Cornish cockerels to the guy that helped me butcher my pigs. He has my cull hens from last year and some hatchery bantams. He's currently breeding the cull hens to his NN roo. He wants to breed NN Cornish. :lau They'll look so funny.

Sadly, I think it is about time to put HAL out of his misery. He's in obvious pain a lot of the time now. I can actually walk up to him and pick him up without chasing him or having him fight at all. As it gets warmer, he is doing worse. Thankfully, I only needed to get cockerels off him and this year only. Including Robinson, I have at least 4-5 known Dark cockerels off of him that doesn't include the one chick from him that is too young to tell and the eggs in the incubators. I also have all my Jubilees from him too. I think I'll probably put him down later this week and then set any eggs I get from his girls for the next 2 weeks. He did good.

:hugs hard task

I have my original mixed heritage roo I got for free that has troubles walking that I need to put down too. Not looking forward to that task. He still is able to keep his great great grandsons in line though.

Is he one of your CX mixes? How old is he now?

HAL's girls a so sweet to him. He was on the ground next to their mobile coop in the shade laying down (with his head on the ground) with his eyes shut earlier. The girls were standing or sitting next to him watching for predators. Of course, they scarpered off when I went in the pen to check on him. They are now all in a little Quonset hut shade thing with him keeping him company.

Sadly, that does sound like he is suffering.

He is the father of my first CX mixes. I think he is 6.
I got him and a brother off FB when I decided to get back into chickens. I wanted to see if I could get the dog trained to not kill chickens. He used to chase the wild turkeys and kill anything he could catch. I figured loosing a free roo was better than a hen... didn't loose any.

That sounds like a good plan! 6 seems like a pretty old age (for a rooster) to me.
