Official Squatch Watchers

Well.I caught Kim laying eggs in the strawberry bed.
Fresh nests and everything but nope right in the strawberry bed.
Hopefully she dosent draw Barb,Stacey,Kiwi and Dooneese into her trouble making ways.
She acted sorta goofy, surely she isn't wanting to brood in there.🤨

Of course she wants to hide her eggs so she can hatch them! Not exactly a great place, strawberry plants could not hide a chicken!

Kim couldn't hide anything if her life depended on it, she's a courteous chicken lol!
She stands up if I get close to her when she is on the nest I call her my little meerkat.
No idea why she does it, I don't wrangle eggs out from under butts I just wait until they're done.
I guess it is just a Kim thing.:)

Apparently broody is contagious at my house. First my 3 year old swedish flower who has never shown any interest. She now has a dozen babies. Soon to follow where a bantam cochin and a half bantam cochin. They go in the same nest box even if it has no eggs in it. Then the mother of the half cochin (an Austra white) decided to join the fun. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤪
I tried giving the two cochin girls babies but they were not nice at all. So I have started eggs in the incubator I'm going to give them instead. See if they behave themselves.

So I guess my namesake heard about all this broody business and thought she'd try it out.

Worse time ever for broodies to be picky, you have all those kids but they want fresh ones...jeeze!
Lol! I was clear here, it was so peaceful and now I have a jack in the box in the strawberries.
It could be worse,Barb thinks the roof is the perfect spot and has to be locked up immediately at the first speck of broody.
Stacey just screams, no big deal.
Kiwi and Dooneese so far have zero intrest in brooding but neither did their moms so maybe im safe.
Renee the trips mom hasn't gone broody yet this year, she is by far the meanest little hell beast iv'e got so im hoping she skips a year....lol, I know hope in one hand sh*t in the other see which one fills faster.
Yep, im totally fine with my strawberry pop tart Kim, the more I think about it.😊

I hope my broody beast level sticks at Bitty, one loud but non biting Australorp and one not quite sure she feels like it Australorp.
Three are much easier to handle than 7+.

So far Dip and Dot are behaving themselves nicely.

Holy early guinea hatch, Batman!

Last year, all my guineas hatched on day 26. So far this year, my keets have been arriving on day 28-29. Well, I thought my first 5 guinea eggs incubated in ONLY the Brinsea where “due” Thursday with my chicken eggs. Nope. Day 28 for these eggs is Wednesday, so today is day 26. I went to look at the eggs before I moved them and I see one keet half out of its egg and one egg mostly zipped. I quickly pull my empty turning trays in my other Brinsea and move the keets and eggs in there while I warmed up my usual lock down incubator. In the next half hour, 3 of the keets hatched. They look perfect. They needed no help to hatch and there isn’t one jot of excess egg fluid. One more egg is externally pipped. The 5th egg looks iffy
(No visible veins or internal/external pips) but I’m giving it a chance. I’ve got 9 Cornish eggs ready to hatch Thursday and I expect 7-8 of them to have a fighting chance. 4 of them are from HAL.

Thus concludes another exciting adventure of the Crazy Cornish Lady.

Tell Dip and Dot im disappointed!
Behaving nicely goes completely against their derp heritage.
They're messing with perfection!
They are still young though, still plenty of time to blossom.🤭
