Official Squatch Watchers

I

FREAKING

HATE

MY

POWER

COMPANY!

First, they call at 8:20, just as I’m nursing the Milk Drinker to sleep, waking him up

Second, they tell us there is a scheduled power outage from 8am - 5pm TOMORROW!

Third, I work from home and people are depending on me.

Fourth, I have 86 eggs in three different incubators!

DH is borrowing a generator from someone at church, so we should at least be able to run fans and the incubators. I’ll try working, but I won’t count on being able to make it work.

Is 2020 over yet?

Maybe this will fix all the power issues we’ve been having recently?

A girl can dream can’t she?

That is an unacceptably short notice!!!! 😳

Did they say they had sent a notice at all or just "BAM! Have fun with that."?

They might have called before, but we didn’t get a call. I suspect it is an urgent fix. Last time they had a scheduled outage they let us know two weeks in advance. It was an autocall too, so we didn’t get a chance to curse them out.

I would be pretty miffed too. That is a long time for fridges/freezers/incubators or God forbid an oxygen machine to be without power.

Last time they had a scheduled outage, they posted it and said it wouldn't effect me or within a half mile. Guess who was without up power for 12 hrs. But I didn't have any eggs in the Bator

Good evening folks :frow

Sorry Rae, that't just crazy....

Sue had a good day today. She had her follow up angiogram and again it was negative. The neuro said that this is a good thing. Apparently her bleed came from a week spot in a vein that repaired itself after the bleed. We're starting the steps to get her home..

Glad you two finally got some good news! :hugs

Good here too. Super busy but that is summer here....busy, busy, busy.

How are your eggs doing?
I did not candle all of them but of the ones I did I believe I have development! Also just put quail eggs in tonight.

Been trying to get it all set up and the temperature controller I got was a bit more complicated than I thought it would be lol. But now it's in a double redundant system. I hear that the little giant incubators can sometimes cook eggs so I figured this would be a good stop Gap safety measure. In the incubator Ian style to small 40mm USB operated fans (it was the still air version), attached the temperature controller and running the incubator off it, also added an additional digital thermometer and hydrometer. Lol

Now I have 3 incubators set up.
The second one I have large breed chicken eggs. It's a home made one that used a plastic tote and surrounded with rubber foam insulation, controlling with a specialized incubator thermostat I got off Amazon, for heat I'm using (2)25 watt light bulbs. It has an additional digital thermometer and hydrometer also.

The last is one I made using a Styrofoam cooler I got it Walmart and heating with one 25Watt light. It's still air but seems decently stable 99-102 is my peaks. I know 102 is a bit high but hopefully it will not be terminal.

Just trying several things and trying to have fun with it. Lol

If everything hatches (I know they all will not) I'd have over a 100 chicks of different types. Lol

Great, how are you doing today?
Doing well, I've been at work all day. It was hot and humid all day! But that is factory work for you.
Looking forward to next week! I have the whole week off and my first chicks should be hatching!
Going to be fun.
