I love sitting out on my screened in patio, with a cup of coffee, in the early morning, watching, and listening to the world waking up around me. The beautiful bird songs, the horses, the cows, the donkeys, and the lion.
:frow Good morning Clue, have a great day. I'll pass on the lion.
Good Saturday morning everyone! We have another paying guest in our little bunkhouse, an escapee from the Phoenix heat. What a nice way to make an extra $200. on the weekend. 5:00 am a little Barred Holland rooster was announcing he has really hit puberty with a louder, 2-note, cracking crow. I had to go out and see if it was one or 2 that were making that pitiful noise!:gigBob, can you breed them to be larger before they start crowing???
:frow Good morning Parront, have a great day. Don't think so.:gig
a neighbor has a lion?
:frow Good morning Cheepteach, have a great day

Good morning Bob! I swear, these guys crow younger than my Brown Leghorns did. I could expect 10 weeks with them before the crow contest began. But, I think these guys are larger than those were.
My boys haven't started yet, but the girls are escape artists. I have one I have to hold while feeding them or I'll have to chase her down.

Shortly after we moved in here, I was out on the porch, and heard jungle sounds. I was thinking to myself that someone had a really good surround sound system, and was watching an animal show. The next morning, Dh was out on the patio with me, watching the sun come up. After bit, the lion roared. I knew that was not a surround sound system, that was the real deal, however, I must be nuts. There are no native lions here, and it's predominantly a farming community, so how in the world could I be hearing a real lion. Dh saw the expression on my face, and started laughing, as he asked if I heard the lion. "You heard it too?" That's when he explained about the exotic animal rescue.

No escapees allowed here, they would be falcon food. Totally enclosed cage for them, so maybe they are growing up faster due to lack of room to range? They do get moved to fresh grass about once a week.

In Seattle, we lived a couple of blocks from Woodland Park Zoo. In the morning we could hear the animals like that. I liked it. They had gibbons, very talkative.

I did see those. I guess I am being a bit of a cheapo. I want them but not at $10+ dollars each plus shipping.
If I find them today at $5 I can say I will buy a couple "extra".
I use a paint pot-it's blue, has a handle and a spout, washable plastic, and 2/$1 at the dollar store.
