Good morning everyone.

78 and intermittent rain throughout the day.

Apparently, the escapee keet (the one that jumped out of the box when I tried to sell it) decided that last night was the perfect night to sleep out under the stars. It was still inside the PVC run, but it decided to nestle down in the grass outside the Rubbermaid night box. It was perfectly fine this morning.

:frow Good morning Rae, have a great day... That keet is going to grow up to be loads of fun

I am awake....really I am.....

Birds are all tended and happy. Peas for a duck treat served in warm water to speed thawing. Corn cobs with quite a bit still attached for chickens along with the usual handful of scratch.

I am getting a consistent 2 eggs a day from the quackers. i am sure more will start laying soon.

@Parront I am wondering if you are supplementing niacin for the ducklings? I feed Purina flock raiser with a Tablespoon of nutritional yeast per cup added along with peas and romaine lettuce.

Well I need to get busy in the yard. It has s cool now but that won't last today.

Yeah, but why do you have to date eggs?
I want to follow all laws and guidelines, but don’t really care for adding extras while I’m still learning the basics. I don’t have a chicken mentor and no one I have ever known has done any of the things I’m finding out is Ohio law if you want to sell them. Such as marking the egg cartons with your info., etc.
Also, I have no idea how I would date my quail eggs. The celadon’s are easy, but my other hens lay standard, very spotted, eggs. I’m so confused :(.

I should add I am aware of making sure your eggs are fresh and that is a definite reason to date them, but is it necessary and/or what other reason would there be?
I don't think there is a law about dating the eggs themselves. There are certain rules for selling if you want to sell at a farmers market or to stores. I think there is a special license you have to have.
I sell word of mouth.

:idunnoHow can you call such a tiny little thing a cannon? But check out the fresh water,it only takes 5 minutes to turn it murky.

Here is the tub. I just need a way to plug the drain, something like a big rubber plug. No plumbing, just drain it down into the creek bed you can see behind it.

I thought to pipe it away from the tub. Didn't think about how to pull the plug. Very true you probably don't want to stick your arm in it. A chain could be dangerous to diving duckies. I'd wonder about a ball valve in winter. Maybe it wouldn't be for winter use.

I think if the tub is heated/kept from freezing a ball valve would work. Well as long as it is close to the tub. I plan on not allowing big pool time to his winter. They will get a smaller tub to bathe in when the days are nice.

Somewhere along the way we lost a piece of the quoted post and it just keeps growing. 🤨

I know why. It is because of that loose [ /QUOTE ] in the text. It screws everything up. Instead of ending at the second end quote (where it is supposed to end), it picks up the first one.

I am feeding the Pruina flock raiser. I give them grass and dirt after the first couple of days. All seem to be running properly. I suspect that the lack of vitamins in the food is helped by fresh grass. I also give an egg mashed up, or tuna, as treats. I have considered getting the yeast, but never used it when I had ducks before. I never fed them anything special back then, never heard of it. Just let them out on the lawn ASAP! Here, I am bringing the lawn to them.
