Official Squatch Watchers

Good morning! Im up on time, s tad bit early even lol.
Iv'e got to wrangle those kids and unblock the coop's midsection so by older, fatter girls can just walk out instead of jumping.
If it dosent work out i will be setting them off the roost myself.
I don't mind but Hobo and Lulu are pretty heavy or "obeast" as my hubby says.:p

They are treasures Henny, they really are.:)

Those kids will be so confused getting opened up EARLY. :lau
Obeast....I love that term!

Yeah those little old ladies are pretty special. Hubs certainly was more involved double checking the predator resistant efforts on their set up.

I will probably keep the new kids closed into the coop for a few days before letting them into the run.

Happy belated birthday, Rae!
Thanks! I had a nice dinner and hung out with my parents for a while. Thing 1 went to bed very easily. Thing 2 didn't get to sleep until after 10. So I didn't get my usual bath. :( Oh well. Poor guy is cutting the matching molars on the bottom as well. I think he would be just fine if I still had enough milk to satiate him, but once he drinks all I have, it hurts too much to let him dry nurse until he is soundly asleep. He gets REALLY mad about that. I've given up on getting him back in the crib after he wakes the first time. I just bring him in bed and let him sleep between me and DH. He settles quicker that way and doesn't half wake up and moan until I pick him up 15 min later.
I was reading up on a raken. It is an interesting concept......I am not 100% sold on them by a long shot though.
There is a video in this blog that explains how Joel Salatin's son sets up his racken houses. They farm rabbit meat very profitably this way.

Hey they have to learn how it goes around here lol!
Im going to take it a step further probably and pop the "adults" side first instead of getting mobbed on theirs.
Lord I hear obeast at least fifty times a day and Hobo is well...thick but Lulu is just fluffy the feathers add five pounds.
I forgot, iv'e got to fix the run first thing too there was a skunk in there last night and im not o.k with that at all.

It won't be bad cleaning it at all. There were just 3 tiny birds in there. Mostly it is a lot of feathers from molting.

We are forecast for moderate temps and high wind today. I hope to have the yard straightened up early in the day. Maybe it will blow the smoke away and hopefully not just fan the flames.

That's good, not much poop is always a good thing🙂

Hope you do have decent weather and fingers crossed on the smoke. I keep hoping all these fires get contained \controlled soon.

Good morning Rae 😊 Have a great Sunday!! hope you get to relax some today
That's great you got to spend time with your parents 🤗
Teething is never fun and molars 😳, I was a wimp at breast feeding, one bit and they were pretty much done. I'd never heard of dry nursing before 🤔 I can understand it, just never heard of it.

Good morning everybody :frow

I’m hoping to get the bottom wire off the quail pen and cut the pen down by half. It’s 3’ tall right now and just doesn’t work for me. I’m hoping to get about 7 pens out of this.
I waant to split the one half into equal quarters and the other one into one large and two smaller integration(?) areas. Iknow I’ve probably been talking about this for a while but things dont move too quickly here. And, now that hubs makes half of what he used to, funds are tight and I wanted to make sure I had a pretty decent plan before I start chopping things in half.
🤞 I’m thinking I should probably draw up some plans 🤔

A raken house has rabbit cages and chickens running around underneath. It sounds like the best invention ever, but I haven’t seen one in action.
Too bad you got ditched on that bike and lift :(
I have one rabbit cage in the chicken yard and the chickens seem to think that's the best place to bathe, in the rabbit poo! :barnie
