I just wanted to rave a little bit on here about the nice birds I got from @rjohns39 -- Bob's Barred Hollands are very nice birds. Most every day I get 3 nice white eggs for the three pullets, the other days I get 2. The eggs are a little smaller than the Brown Leghorn's, but just as white -- which is why I wanted them. They are very calm and pleasant birds to have around, unlike the Brown Leghorns. Leghorns can be nervous, even the Browns. Here is a photo of my 7 year old neighbor kid holding a cockerel right before I sent him to freezer camp, about 14 weeks old. When you get st. run, you have to have a plan for the males, and I do. But, these guys are very good boys and not nearly as obnoxious as some Brown Leghorn cockerels I have had! I always try to order st run, just do not like the fate of cockerel chicks at hatcheries.
I really like these birds, and am planning to order some more from Bob in the fall, if I can make the room and the hens co-operate!
