I think option 3 is likely the best choice. I just don't want him trying to buy a new big tool box. I can get by with just the top section and my portable one.

Saturday is the moving day for anything I need extra lift power to move.
He likes giving your stuff away. But, he did ask first, so suggest to give it away! To a deserving & tax deductible charity!

I talked to hubs about that tool box. He understands and is not as upset as I thought he would be.

Item #2 that needs handled....
I have what was an engine shipping crate base that I added casters to years ago. It is 40x30x11" inside dimensions. There are several options for this. It is made from true 1x materials and nailed together with twist nails. It is NOT able to take apart.

I could saw one long side down and build the saw table within it's current footprint. The casters do not lock but could be blocked.
The lower section could be used for storage.

Option 2 is to remove the casters and stand it on one side, add doors and a shelf or 2 for storage then put that tool box upper section on top.

I have materials to build a saw table from scratch and include storage even without that crate base.

Kinda thinking out loud here but open to thoughts.
Coffee table? It would work in my little Bunkhouse!

That is a great suggestion. I will call around and see if anyone can accept it.

The way it's built (think brick house) it would certainly be durable! I found the weight it held on it. It says 987#.
The thing is a perfect size set on the narrow end to hold the tool box top on top and has 1" gaps in the bottom that run the right way to accept shelves for storage in my shop.

Imma keep that gem!

That sounds like a good plan for it. It sounds sturdy enough.
