Poult is still under the mhp and has some peck marks. One eye is closed, not sure if a mama or someone else did it. Thinking mama since it was everywhere but by the hens, could be something wrong with it or it's a white poult and the chicks are black. Theses are first time moms. I have had other chickens raise different color poults and chicks together... also had a chicken that hatched poults 2days early, I put the chicken eggs and a turkey egg in the incubator. A day after the incubator hatched, 3 days from the first, I tried to give her a poult and chicks. She took the poult and chased the chicks off.
 
Taking a short break. For the past few days, we've been practicing handwriting. I've been concerned about the way they write their letters. It looked strange. Then, I found out why. The kindergartener was watching a video showing her how to write a certain letter. They started at the bottom, instead of the top. I skipped ahead, and watched a few more of the videos showing her how to form various letters. Almost all of them are wrong.

The old fashioned way, like I do it, is somewhat harder, however, it's also preparation for cursive. It makes transitioning to cursive writing, easier. Not only that, but when mastered, the handwriting is neater, and legible. While this curriculum does address writing in cursive, they sort of gloss over it, because by the time they should learn cursive, they begin teaching keyboard skills. By the time they learn their keyboard skills, if their laptop and phones are not charged, the kids can't communicate.

My kid does the same thing. It looks terrible. He does write in cursive but its pretty sloppy. He used to write pretty neat but started having fine motor issues. Of course theres nothing wrong with him. Its common for kids to suddenly develop these things after a couple of serious blows to the head. 🙄🙄🙄
One was falling out of a smallish tree but onto a concrete sidewalk and the other two were balls to the head, one tore his retina.
Sorry, I just get frustrated with our medical and educational systems. Neither were helpful, in fact, were pretty hindering in getting him help.
But back to writing, I would walk into the classroom and see terrible stuff displayed along with nice writing examples. When I asked the teacher she grumbled at me.

It's started!!!! I need to get an angled picture to see old and new side by side. But the whole front is done! Tore off 3 layers of old. Put all new ice guard and rubber type membrane down and new shingles. With the weather being iffy they didn't want to tear it all off and leave things exposed to possible rain. Tomorrow is the two ends as some spotty rain is expected. Then one more day for the back.

I even did some clean up of old coop materials that had been sitting around. Having a dumpster in my driveway has some perks. 😁

Did you go through the insurance?

Yes! They estimated replacement cost at almost $14k then with depreciation and my deductible I got $9k. Much better than having to pay the whole thing.

I am glad they are cooperative. Coming up with that lump sum is hard to choke down.
Going into winter with a new roof will be great!

It feels so strange to be headed in to a job I left to be paid more than twice the hourly rate for a one day gig.

Seriously this job is easier and the peeps way nicer than the one I went back to. The second shift, waiting for benefits and all that standing basically in one place were hard but the units are easier to build.
