Prayers for a speedy recovery.Hi everybody
Well, it happened. Covid struck the Fishy household. The kid is positive and I have some symptoms. So far so good though except for the test the earliest I can find is Friday. This should be interesting.
Im not a happy camper about this because although he previously tested negative, he was convinced he hadd it and didnt quarantine himself. He even blew in mmy. Face
Now the chills start and the body aches. yay.

I cant get a test until Friday. I have no clue about testing for the strains. Kiddo said his test just said Positive. Hubs just got a call with positive also. No strain mentioned. I think thats weird. I would like to know I guess. I mean they give the strains names and the flu test says which one you have, Ive heard. Why not covid?Fishy, sorry you're ill. Did they say whether is was 19, or Omicron? Also, did they test for both A & B strains of influenza?
Glad shingles is getting better and you missed the plague.Hi folks,
@Fishychix sorry your household has been hit with the plague. I'll be keeping you guys in my prayers.
Update on my shingles, I'm doing a lot better. I was actually able to go outside, chase a pig, build a pen, and pitchfork woodchips into piggy pens. I'll tell more on that later. The left side of my face and head are still touch sensitive, but the light sensitivity is almost gone and the noise sensitivity is MUCH less. No problems with movement now. My shingles at least had one positive side effect, we've missed church for almost 3 weeks and in the last week, church members have been coming down with the plague. All in-person services and meetings were cancelled for this week. We'll see about next week when it gets closer. We did, however, have a GI bug go through the house. So between that and my shingles, we got really behind on maintenance on the pig pens. And with the massive amounts of rain we've gotten in the last week, both pig pens were muck holes. We haven't been able to slaughter our barrows yet since it has been too warm so we still have them in a separate pen from our breeders. The smaller barrow dug his way out of their pen earlier today. My FIL and I extended their pen with two more 10ft x 6ft chain link panels and pushed the escaped pig back in. We filled in the hole where he got out with cinder block so he can't escape again. The barrows now had a nice grassy half of a pen but the other half was still pure muck. It was going to take a lot of work to bring the wood chips over to both pens in the wheel barrow, so I asked my dad to bring his tractor over so we didn't have to both load and unload however many wheel barrows it would take to take care of the mess. He was able to dump 4 buckets of chips directly into the barrow's pen and we just had to spread them out. But we had to get the bucket next to the breeder pigs' pen because of the car port we have over them and fork the chips into the pen. We put 5 buckets of chips into the breeders' pen. I bet that would have been 25-30 wheel barrow loads if we had done it by hand. I'm so glad I was able to participate because the GI bug seems to have gotten DH down and we needed to get this done before the cold snap that is supposed to happen later this week. Unfortunately, it isn't going to last long enough to do the butchering. I'm considering just taking them to a butcher this time if I can get one to take them.
