We got the barrows to the butcher without incident. They were a little hard to get off the trailer. Fortunately there was a pallet next to the entry to the stalls and I got that and were able to crowd them off. I need to get some pig boards (solid plastic boards of different sizes to block pigs from running past your legs).

We got our removable wall constructed and just finished lunch. We are resting for about a half hour before getting back at it.

@Kiki, this is the geodesic dome my in-laws got for the boys to play on. They aren’t big enough for to play on it properly by climbing it but they like treating it like a fort and hanging on the bars from the inside. Thing 2 is inside it in this pic.

Well I have joined the ranks of those who have gotten locked in a coop 😱

Last night the bottom slide bolt wouldn't go in the bracket, something at the bottom of the door keeping door from shutting the last quarter inch. It was cold so I figured the top bolt would be good. But I left the bottom bolt sticking out.
When I opened this morning and went in with the feed, the door slammed shut. The bolt went into the bracket and no amount of body slamming kicking would open it. :rant
:barnieI live alone.
fortunately I had a knife in my pocket, almost took it out because my back was bothering me. I was able to turn the bolt and slide it over and I was free.
This is the kind of bolt

When do you get the meat back?
Hopefully the boy will eat it.
Faraday 40s son doesn't want to eat chicken or turkey anymore since she has been processing the boys, ....and he's around 12 I think.

I won’t go out of my way to tell him, but will if he asks. I think he’ll still eat it. He has to eat his meat and veggies if he wants his dessert.

We are 90% done!

Here are the first two walls we put up.

The end wall has some gaps under it because the ground is uneven. Since I’m going to have my girls in here for farrowing, I worry about little piglets getting through there and not being able to get back. We are going to put a lot of wood chips in there but my girls dig.

I was walking around and I had a flash of inspiration. I saw the cut ends of the livestock panels from when we trimmed them and realized how I could make use of them.

I hammered the sharp tines into the ground and zip tied the panel remnant to the existing structure. This will keep any babies from going under.

We built the Dutch door frame and door. We have to put the siding up on the side next to the door. DH and FIL will do that tomorrow. We have a Dutch door so the bottom door can hold the chips in while we get in and out to clean/feed but we can open the bottom door to move the pigs in and out.

This is the detachable side. It will be secured with heavy duty zip ties and other straps. We have it on the outside of the posts so we can remove the wall to muck out and to add wood chips. The gaps between the roofing is where the posts of the carport go. We will put the wall on after my parents use their tractor to add a mess of wood chips.

We should be at least be finished by the time they have their babies. They are just starting to bag up and their previous owner said their udders were almost dragging on the ground right before they had their last litters. The earliest we can expect the babies is Sunday. The next date (based on when they first broke into Puddles pen) is the 25th.
