Good morning from me as well.

We have been dealing with failed coop/run security. We had an intruder who flipped the nest boxes around. The trail cam showed us a stinky skunk.
So far the run has new chicken wire on top of the chain link and a new apron pinned down. Still to do is a new apron on the coop and my workshop. It's to hot out to do more today.

Upcoming big event here is new siding on the human house starting 9-5. Painters wanted 4 grand to paint it. I will not pay that much so I will be doing that myself.

Good morning folks!

I forgot to tell you guys but I actually decided to hatch some eggs this year. Guinea eggs. Just over 2 weeks ago I was trying to get the guineas into their overnight pen. 8 guineas where all standing right by my satellite dish rather than hovering around their pen to be fed. One of the cocks was acting weird. When my FIL and I started pushing the guineas towards their pens, this one cock kept charging past us humans in a way that isn’t normal. We managed to get 7 guineas into the pen. Well the cock goes back and stand right by the satellite dish again. So I start walking around him to push him towards the pen again when I see a flash of white in the tall grass. It was the face of a hen. She was sitting on a nest of 22 eggs. I was able to push her off the nest and gather the eggs. She and the cock went to the pen quietly. He was standing guard for his broody mate. We still have 10 guineas (our original number) but I suspect we had a hen that was on another nest and stayed missing for a few days. Every so often, we’ll have a few guineas not come back for dinner but they usually turn up later.

Well, that was a bit over 2 weeks ago and 18 of the 22 eggs are showing excellent signs of life. One egg looked a bit behind the others but it still had veins so I left it. Incubate until there is no debate. I’m glad I candled the eggs when I did because one of the eggs was weeping clear sticky stuff and was completely dark on the inside. I was very surprised at how well this batch of eggs is doing. I’m thinking I might order some layers and different colored guineas to come within a week of when these hatch. If I have too many, I can sell them off for more than I paid.
