Been close to 50
Another cockerel committed suicide by owl. He was 30 ft in a tree with the turkeys at lockup Monday night and headless in the morning. I was keeping him as an alternate breeder possibly. But he was lighter than I thought. .. so I feel bad for him but not a great loss, most of the meat is salvageable...it was 22f that night and shoulders appear to be the only damage of meat.

2 jakes, one was trying to get the other to fight . I ran them both into a pen at 6:30 am but it was 28f so I waited until 11am to dispatch and butcher. Got one completely plucked and halfway through the other when I had to take a break... Then finished plucking,. legs, thighs and wings off both and ran out of energy again . . Haven't gutted. I will finish later or tomorrow... Chicken still stiff, tomorrow should be good, maybe later today... Weather maybe good until afternoon...no plans for Thanksgiving celebration anyway.
there's 10 or so jakes that need to go to freezer camp before breeding season. So I do the deed when I can catch them and the weather cooperates
