My first hatch is doing fantastic. They are eating me out of house and home and growing like weeds. My second hatch is on the way. The first chicks have hatched. Mostly Augsburger chicks. I think I have only seen one Sulmtaler so far. It's hard to look into all trays especially the very back. But tonight is day 21 so it's ok.

They look so good. So fluffy!

I do find them more fluffy than in previous years! They are very quiet... but extremely messy this time. They eat like little machines... Every hatch is so different and has it's own personality.
Look fluffy indeed.
Chicks and also grown up chickens always surprise us. That’s one of the reasons keeping chickens is fun. :wee :love

Finally I have a broody! I hadn't the time to collect eggs from the breeds I wanted, so I let her sit on the eggs she chose, since I would like some more Olive Eggers. This hen is called Edgar and she was the very first chick to be born here from a Blue Copper Marans and my rooster who is an OE (Marans X Araucana). Now she's sitting on Araucana eggs fertilized by the same rooster, so I guess I will have OEs who lay clearer eggs... if all goes well! She started yesterday, so I guess chicks should hatch around April 24... I'll let you know!

Good luck❤️ She's so cute!!
My black Bantam Silkie went broody the same day! She is sitting on some Brahma eggs, it's her first time so I hope everything goes well, I have to force her to get up everyday to eat and drink...
I ended up putting 35 eggs in the incubator last month, 30 were fertile and 25 chicks hatched, they are now 8 days old and super active.

Love to see some pictures Skyle.

No broody news from here. No need for them either now because my husband and me planned to leave our premises by the end of this month, just for long weekend. But I don’t like to be away when any chicks hatch. Love to have a broody in about 10 days or in Mai after our return.
