… Stripes watches from the ceiling. He poops on the pigeons. He likes that he can fly higher than the pigeons and poop on them to assert dominance.

I reeeeeally wanted these Birmingham Rollers who were for sale at the swap I was at today. I wanna roll. I especially wanted the red bar male so I could name him Russet. I also liked the blacks and the stippers. But I only have four nesting boxes and two pairs of pigeons and I plan to breed them

Also some rando cute pigeons (aside from the short beaks. I just like the grouse feathering. They look like little pawwws)

Blondie has been sitting on the eggs for a while and the humble Biftator will sit on the eggs for a bit while she gets some food and water.
Meanwhile, Pearl and Harold finally get a chance to go to the top of the nest boxes, everyone’s favorite make out spot. Er… I mean where they do the food exchange thing.
Normally Biff guards this important territory since the only ones allowed to do PDA are him and his wife.
So when he’s not there, they really get there fast.
Ah, young love.
It’s weird how quickly my pigeons have paired up. And favorable pairings too. Not too surprising Bif picked the yellow atlas though because he wouldn’t date a child.
Anyway, I went to get my phone to photograph the young lovers but Bif was already back.

Neet Neet, who is definitely not the boss of the aviary but thinks he is.

Bagel, one of my newest rescues (she is missing half her beak) has fallen in love with my stringfoot pigeon… which is unfortunate, because I may have found her a home with other pigeons with beak disabilities, and her mate wouldn’t be able to come with her.

This one is a newer rescue who amazingly recovered from a massive hole in his crop! However, even though he eats well, whenever I feel his crop it’s small and tight and I can barely feel any seeds, so I don’t think he’s releasable.

I recently had more pigeons than usual in my aviary (a few were rehab pigeons and have been released) and I’m starting to think that 12 is probably the aviary’s limit if I want to avoid overcrowding. So, ideally, I would like to find homes for the newest unreleasables. This is difficult in general, but will be even more so since they are the most unwanted type of pigeon; feral, (slightly) disabled, and untame. Fortunately, I’ll probably be expanding the aviary in a few months, but I also might have even more pigeons by then.

I can’t wait until Bifster and Blondie’s eggs hatch though!
And once he’s busy feeding them, maybe he’ll give poor Harold a break.
