Raerest breed

:drool I've seen like two pictures and he's gorgeous.

Yeah I've heard the more rare chickens are the less work is put into them so they are weaker. John Sullivan I believe (i think it was him) has Buckeyes and they are extremely disease resistant while the La Fleche, a breed that needs a more help, you go so much to sneeze in their direction and they've got something.
Yes, John Sullivan sure has amazing Buckeyes

Yeah. There are enough to not be considered the "Rarest breed" though. Aaron Baker at Baker Acres has progressed a lot with that breed. They are becoming more frequent at champion row. The many people who own them aren't going to let the breed down. They may have been rare at one time, but now you just have to do searching.
Sure would be grand if we could do that for ALL of the breeds we've mentioned ... and a few more, to boot. It wouldn't really take that much, I don't think. Just a few dedicated breeders bent on getting the harder-to-find chickens' populations stable, so others can see what great birds they are. That's what a few of us are trying to do with the Nankin Bantams - pick 'em up and put 'em out there and hope some people pick up the ball and run with it from there!

Most I've ever paid was $5 chick + shipping  Langshan's and White Jersey Giant's from Sandhill Preservation Center.
Rare and unheard of for me, my area has about everything GFF has and cheaper, I don't know anyone that has naked necks , or even has ever heard of them or saw them, and they are cheap and available at most hatcheries. I actually had my BIL convinced they were baby ostrich, then I don't think he believed me when I admitted they were just chickens, made a comment before he left, 'your going to have to build a heck of a fence for them' :lau
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!! I've been buying in all the wrong places

I wish I could help but there just isn't anyone willing to sell

Just a courious question is it possible that there isn't a "rarest" breed rather it could be more of a group as in rarest breed"s"??
No? Yes?
Any opinions
I think trying to find the rarest breed of chicken is like trying to figure out how many species are lost for every acre of rainforest we destroy. Since most of them will be gone before we even know they existed, there's no way of knowing what we are in danger of losing. It's a terrible thing, and it genuinely makes me want to cry, but there it is. We need to concentrate on preserving and strengthening what we have, while always being vigilant for the ones in danger of getting - or going - away ...
