rir or black star

i have to choose 8 day old chicks i can have any amount of bsxl or rir the bsxl have bald spots and are really small
how many from each breed should i keep

that would depend on what you want them for...pets...eggs or both...

my RIR are shy they have a bit of a nasty tude too, but they are good layers ......BUT my black star are far more social and give me great BIG eggs and a lot of them

I have both and would chose Black Stars over RIR, if I had to chose. I do like them both though.

What mjsdhs said is right on, although my RIR isn't nasty, I've heard many are.
