Hi it was very nice meeting all of you I really had a great time I came home with A serema girl thanks chef Glenn also thanks for the meal worms the girls really love them I hope theres another one soon.

Anke - I looked up the watery poo situation and -for birds- when it is nearly all clear water it is often a sign of high temps and overheating, or not eating. I would guess the overheating since she seems otherwise normal and eating and drinking. I know the weather hasn't been that hot, but chickens do normally have already high temps 105-107 and a large, older hen (I think you said) could have a bit more trouble then the others with it. My bantam barred rock has been panting and slower moving in the mid afternoon and it isn't even that hot here yet.
It may be something as simple as providing more shade or a frozen 2 litre for her to sit by. I'm only guessing but it seems logical since it has been her only symptom.

Hi everyone, thanks for the food! I forgot to buy some soap before leaving.

I ended up sticking around a little bit because when I went over to see the new ducklings, that Canada goose came over and attacked them. Some guys who were fishing threw rocks towards him and he finally got the hint and went away. Then, he went and got into a big, vicious battle with that white Chinese gander. In the meantime, the mom and the ducklings went out into an open area where a crow tried to get them, but I chased the crow away. They ended up going right back and settled down about 20 feet from the Canada goose. At that time, whatever rage he had was gone (probably from the fight) so he ignored them. I sure hope they're going to be OK. I can't be there 24 hours a day and Canada geese are everywhere all over the country, so this isn't an uncommon occurrence.

Last year, that mom raised 5 out of 6 ducklings, including the flycatching one. Already, three or four of her ducklings are being very disobedient, doing their own thing, and not keeping up.

And, another three ducklings from another mom popped out at the same time. That mama had a hard time last year with her two ducklings who kept wandering away from her. Motherhood didn't click in for her until the ducklings were about 10 days old. But, this time, she was very attentive and motherly.

Nice to see you all today - I'm sorry we had to run off so quickly. I am dying to know if the excellent young salesman sold his nice Seabrights... I don't need any bantams, but he nearly had me convinced to take some home!

Miriam - I am horribly embarrassed that I forgot to pay you for the chicks! I think my brain was scrambled since I'd prepaid Cari, and I just forgot. Please let me know how much I owe you, okay?

The chicks are doing fine; they are SO cute! Broody Mama Missy wasn't too interested in being their surrogate, so we have set up a brooder in the house. I was so scared to raise chicks on my own, and now here we are doing it both ways...

I forgot to mention this today: I know a lot of you like to recycle and reuse building equipment. I have lots of pallets here that would be free for the taking... some are in terrific shape, and some need to be dismantled and used for other projects. Please let me know if you can use them for anything.

Again, many thanks to Cari for setting up another group buy! My horses love the alfalfa pellets; that was a nice surprise for them.

Dana
