Hmmmm 🤔 perhaps it COULD work? I might give it another try!
It also depends if the hen trusts that particular rooster.

My largest Silkie Rooster is 4½lbs, & taller then a 5 gallon bucket. He's never been paired with a bantam, only my second largest, who is also taller then a 5 gallon bucket.

I think it's very much a matter of technique and charm on the rooster's part. My most damaging cockerel was a tiny silkie cross who ripped feathers out of even my big orpington girls. My silkie roo is a gentleman, waits for them to squat for him and does his business without trouble- gentle enough for even tiny hens though he's only interested in other silkies. So I would say it depends which he's more like. If the hen is allowed to properly squat then the size difference is much less of a problem.

My second largest Silkie Rooster. I just haven't weighed him yet.

Here we have Belgin d'Uccles, our smallest birds, EE bantams, and Chantecler roosters, who do breed the smaller hens sometimes. Never had a problem. I have zero experience with Seramas, although small bantam sized roosters won't be that much larger, depending.
Polite roosters aren't rough, and are the only ones worth keeping anyway.

I think that’s a good point. I will have to do a some bucket comparisons with my boy and show you. I really don’t think he’s more than two lbs. He’s really a sweet guy. My serama will squat for him (and me lol) but she’s still so new at it, perhaps it scared her a little. They get along great though. I was really hoping she could have a mate. 😢 Also not wanting my favorite hen to be hurt.
Side note— My other boy silkie cockerels are complete A holes and beat up on my other hens. It’s crazy how different their personalities are!!! They’re great with me, but very rough on my poor girls. That’s an entirely different story though.

He is big for a silkie! But a handsome boy!! I am going to do some bucket comparisons tomorrow. I haven’t weighed him either but my best guess is around 2lbs.
2lbs is what a bantam silkies is supposed to weigh. Update after it's done?
Bantam Silkie rooster 2.1lbs, & Bantam Silkie hens 2lbs.
