I would melt fast, I just went out, dumped the days water and filled with cold water, then I , from the run gate, sprayed the tree trunk which made splash/mist- sprayed the far east side, I didnt get where the big hens were standing wet I didnt want them to run and over exert themselves- it is 98 in the run, the chicks liked the coolness from the water when I was done and they are not panting.

I'll go out at 4 and do it again

I do the same when it gets super hot. I spray down the magnolia tree for them. Good thinking.

I don't just toss that compliment out there. I really mean it. You are doing great!

I have heard too many horror stories. In fact I recently heard of someone who let their entire flock perish in the heat. He actually did nothing to help them. He just let them die. They were "just chickens" to him.

That just breaks my heart, he may not know, that the Lord knows and WILL deal with that.
I feel I am blessed beyond measure, to choose to do right is the least I can do.

This is the only thing that can provide comfort when you hear of these tragedies.

Any animal that comes into our care is our responsibility. Don't accept the animal if you aren't willing to accept the very real responsibility for their lives. Too few people understand this.

It is comforting to know people like you who do.
