Looks very similar to my Black Cochin Cockerel at that age (6 weeks)
He's very handsome now.

It's crazy how Millie/Noah has such a big tail but other than that the similarities are undeniable. The funny thing is that Millie/Noah was sold as a barred cochin pullet. I'm not sure if the black colors grow out some white feathers in the beginning but I haven't seen a trace of barred patterns yet. I've been thinking (s)he's a black cochin.Looks very similar to my Black Cochin Cockerel at that age (6 weeks)

Yes I believe now that he is a he and that he's a black cochin. The greenish feathers are coming in as well. That's not a barred cochin. He's black - and yes, I believe he is a he.
How is your rooster? I've heard they're great. We had a cochin cockerel a few years ago but had to re-home him right when he started crowing. He was very skittish. My Black Cochin's feathers have an iridescent green sheen to them as well.
Can't believe nobody else has pointed this out, but he's not a Cochin. He's got white skin, not yellow. He's a Marans.UPDATE: Six weeks old today. I'm starting to lean toward cockerel unless by some wild chance Millie is a Millie. The others are almost done feathering.

Noah actually had black on his legs with maybe white. Looking at some photos (not uploaded) of the buff one and it looks like her legs are pinkish. I'll take a closer look tomorrow though. Can't believe nobody else has pointed this out, but he's not a Cochin. He's got white skin, not yellow. He's a Marans.
Marans. His new name is Georgie. I do have doubts that he's a cochin considering his foot color and tail feathers. They are now 10 weeks old.
