I have a few Bantams
Bantam welsummers: 20+ and they lay the biggest egg out all Bantams That I have owned.
Modern Game: 8
Old English: 14
olive eggers: 5
D'anvers: 5
Wyandotte: 1
mixes: 7 to 10
and most of these numbers will go up in next few weeks because of all my broody hens are sitting on eggs.

Ohhhh those are really nice! My bantam brahma and bantam rock lay brown but not nearly as brown as that, more of a dark tan. Maybe one day I will add one of those and another bantam EE to mix up my bantam eggs a bit!

Okay bantam peeps, I need your help.

A little background. I have about 25 OEGB bantams that I have hatched from eggs that I got from an Amish neighbor. After the babies hatched and grew I started looking at them. Hmmm. OEGBs don't have feathered legs. Okay talked to the farmer. He had a Cochin rooster at one point. Mystery solved. I also suspect that there is some Sumatra in the mix also but I love these little birds dearly.

My first OEGB pullet went broody last month and hatched out 4 babies, all bantam eggs. Her sister who is an escape artist, broke into her brooding pen (actually tore down hardware wire)and managed to kill three of the babies. I brought mom and baby inside to keep an eye on them an the next day, saw momma grab baby by the back of the neck and toss her across the cage I had put them in. That was enough. I pulled baby from momma and returned momma to the flock. Now I had a lone baby crying it's heart out. So I beat a trail to the local Orscheln's in search of chicks. They had two bantams left. I told them what had happened and I didn't care what breed of bantam they were I wanted them. I bought these two little darlings home and put them in with my little lucky survivor chick and they immediately adopted her. I was amazed. Lucky was 24 hours old and these little girls looked like they were maybe 3 weeks. Now they are nearly 7 weeks old and they are still very small. I was thinking they may be Dutch Bantams at first but as they passed 5 weeks and their legs stayed yellow. They are beautiful little ladies and while flighty, friendly once I can get my hands on them. But now I'm wondering what I have and what color they are. I'm thinking OEGB but these girls are small. You can see in the picture, Lucky, is 3.5 weeks old now and is catching up with them size wise.

Any Ideas?

Oh, and can I be a member of the Bantam Club? Please?
