Hi Alton, is the roo the LF chocolate split ?
The pricing of birds is dependent on a few things. How much you know. Have you shown, and bred enough birds to be able to effectively judge the quality of the birds you are selling? Has this line produced winners? Are the youngsters free from defects that would be a detriment in the breeding pen, or the US show ring? We are currently seeing people who have NEVER shown, asking huge prices for experimental birds resulting from English breedings, lovely , but those birds do not fit the US Standards. Better safe than sorry, if you are just getting started. The ultimate satisfaction is a satisfied customer, whose birds produce well in the next generation, and whose offspring show well.Hi I need everyone's opinion please as this will be my first year selling chicks from these. What would be a fair price for a started pair of BBS English Orps around 8 to 12 weeks of age? These r not culls altho I do have a couple that r blue and very typey but lacing is not really good but those will be sold with a black of the opposite sex. I am only keeping back some really dark laced blue pullets, most the black pullets and a handful of black cockerals to grow out.
I plan to sell these locally and not fool with shipping this early in the season so don't be afraid to post different amounts then others cause market varies by location. I would really appreciate everyone's opinion please and thank u in advance.![]()
BTW forgot to include b4 people ask these r pure English from imported lines. Again any help would b greatly appreciated.

No I do not show nor do I plan too. I will be breeding for exaggerated orp features like huge skirts, big heads, small combs and weight ect and breeding to the UK standard. Im just not that serious and don't wanna get caught up in the show drama. Its just a hobby to me and I want it to stay fun and enjoy my birds. I will breed for what I like and will post pics of my own birds and let them speak for themselves when I sell chicks or eggs. Im not in it for money nor do I need ribbons or awards to be happy with my birds. I pay for their feed and maintenance and rain snow or shine Im the one that cares for them daily so I will be breeding for what I like and think is pretty. I will not be listing these started pairs as show birds nor am I expecting a show price. The parents were just from eggs I purchased that were a mix of Julie and Joys birds. I kept back the ones with the most type and sold or gave away the others. These started pairs r way to young to know exactly how they will turn out. Even if the parents had won many shows I would never sell birds at this age as show quality anyways as that would be unethical. Im just looking for a round about price for decent BBS English Orp started pairs to sell them locally. I have shown many different breeds years ago and did well but never Orps. I don't like the risk involved with bringing birds back from a show or the people that get angry and say their birds were better when u do win and they don't.The pricing of birds is dependent on a few things. I hate to be argumentative, but have you really read the English Standar?. It calls for a "Small " head. As long as you are upfront about breeding to your own standard and tastes, charge whatever the market will bear.No I do not show nor do I plan too.
