The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

THanks everyone. The color is a bit off in most of them because the camera was set to "night" photos. Hubby was taking pictures of our lit jackolanterns the other night and changed the setting and I didn't realize it. The O's look kinda brown in a few pictures - they aren't a bit brown, that is the camera setting. A couple of the other pictures have some wonky looking color too. Sorry about that.

The O's just amaze me every time I see them. I'm going to put "wide-load" signs on them and a buzzer that beeps when they back up !! They are huge. They are magnificent !! Hagrid is looking really good too. The little ones are growing nicely as well. I could not be happier with them. The O's are about 5-1/2 months old now - they hatched on 05/18 - so I'm waiting for them to start laying - I'm being very patient

as I wait.

My beautiful, sweet Clementine is still getting new feathers, but she is almost back to her old gorgeous self and I hope to get eggs from her again soon so I can start hatching. Winston - bless his heart - he still looks like a homeless ragamuffin, but he is still a big, sweet baby.

Mary - I won't be going to the show. I am going to have to get to a show one of these days to take a look. I've never been to one. I doubt I'll ever show my birds - that just holds no interest for me, but I wouldn't mind going to one to look at everybody else's birds.

Again - thanks for all the lovely compliments. I'll pass your compliments on to the chickens this afternoon....I"m sure they'll be pleased.

Bluebell is looking SO grown up - so is Hagrid. I love the P's- my gosh, you have a wonderful bunch there! They just keep getting more and more beautiful!

I finally was able to get some new pictures of the 3 pullets I hatched from Joy's eggs last spring. Tried to get some of the chicks she sent about eight weeks ago, but they were not cooperative at all. Of the 9 chicks I've got 2 blue pullets, 1 black pullet, a splash roo, a blue roo, and 4 blakc roos.

The splash is a pullet I hatched out of Julie's eggs.

Katy -0h my !! They are looking simply lovely !! That first picture of the blue is a wonderful picture. I love her color. I like the blacks too !!! Keep the pictures coming. I love seeing them, especially as I don't have any chicks from the breeding pen your chicks came from, so I am really enjoying seeing how they are growing out.

Julie - I am really liking my blacks too. I always loved the blues, still do....the The O's have kinda changed my mind. I do agree with you - that we are seeing some of the best Orps in the US in a long time !!! I feel so proud to have helped contribute to that in a small way.

Bill - That black girl of yours is just awesome !! The others aren't anything to sneeze at either !!! Thank you so much for the nice compliment - I appreciate that.

Renie - Get you a few shopping bags and head on down South !!

Joy...I like them all, but the blue girl is my favorite too. I'll try and get some pictures of the younger group for you to see. With my eye issues I haven't been able to get my big outside brooder set back up so they're in a smaller one that I cobbled together so I could get them out of the smaller one in the garage. I hope the 2 little blue girls I've got turn out as nice.

Katy - I think I like your blue girl so much because she really reminds me of Clementine. Go back a page and look at the very first picture I posted - the one of Clementine. The color is almost exact, though I think Clementine is a tad darker, and look at the tails, etc. l !!

Joy you two should be very proud. You have brought such a much needed new interest into the breed. Many here and else where get to enjoy the spectacular look of your ladies Blues and now Blacks too. I feel like a kid again with all my new toys and don't which one I want to play with. I can see the day when our US Orps can rival the UK breeders. And in your two cases out do the UK breeders in Blacks and Blues. Now get us some Buffs and Whites and your job is done! lololol
