Duck eggs are in lockdown! I can't wait to see what comes out. @Tooshay89 I've not forgotten about you either. (Kind of hard, the eggs are in your bator) Runner ducks coming soon! 💝💝💝

We actually put a hold on our ducks for now. With all the craziness of the coronavirus nonsense, we've suddenly been put in a weird spot of uncertainty.

Live Nation has suspended all of their arena concerts, which means they've basically put our industry out of business, effective immediately. I'm not sure when the tours will start back up, but the ones we had out were sent home, and have rescheduled for September, which is REALLY going to mess us up because we don't know when we're going to work, it's really changing up the game here.

So yeah, maybe no ducks until fall... it'll all depend on what this economy is going to do to bus world.

So much for relaxing today. I did happen n to go back to sleep which was amazing. Slept in till 9:00, also amazing. Had a pretty good start to being lazy. I get up, let the bantams out, and go to feed the LF gang. I'm in the back and hear the bantams making noise. I look over and 15' beyond the fence is a coyote in my front yard. Make it worse, every bantam is only 15' away from it and they're all yelling/staring right at it. NOBODY RAN!

I ran through the house grabbing my pistol, but it was gone by the time I got out front. I went and got Bella on a leash and once she picked up the scent instincts took over. Head down, tail up, and drug me to a makeshift "trail" behind the shack. It wasn't stamped down, and I couldn't see an actual path, but the entry hole was about the size of the coyote was.

We took a walk down the preservation and let the other neighbors know what was going on. Bella was about ready to kill something. Completely different dog. To the best of my knowledge, she's not had any form of guardian training, but boy was she ready to protect. Ironically, she listened to commands much better than normal. I asked her to sit when we knocked on a door, and she'd turn and face the street and watch behind me while I talked. I was impressed. As soon as I said let's go, she went right back in to sniffing mode.

She's currently tethered on a 30' leash with the bantam flock. It's great watching her work, and just naturally. I don't like tethering animals, but she will go on a chase. At least with her tethered she can be with the birds and be a deterrent without being picked off and ambushed. Needless to my pistol is on my hip, and I'll be outside today.

Shhh, don't tell the bald babies, but Bella is getting a big ole treat later on. ;)

Man that sucks. I'm sorry to hear that. No biggie on the ducks. Come fall time you'll have some nice grow outs to chose from if you'd like.

You may have a livestock guardian yet!! Good job, Bella! She'll deserve that treat this evening.

I can't believe you had a coyote right there in your yard! That's terrifying. We talked with the neighbor behind us the other day (I refer to him as Florida Man) and he was saying they've seen bears and coyotes out here, so that makes me uneasy. I'm really looking forward to Apollo getting older and being able to help more on that end.

He's been so good the last few days. My brother came over to borrow our trailer to move to their new house, and I had Apollo outside with me on a long lead. I had to help them with something, and Apollo wanted to stay near the barn, so I just tied his lead to the barn and told him I'd be right back. I figured he'd flip out once he realized I'd be out of sight, but he didn't. He walked around a bit, and then sat in the shade next to the goat fence, calm as ever. He ended up staying there for about 15 minutes before I was done (I checked on him every few minutes to make sure he wasn't strangling himself, but he was as cool as as cucumber.)

Ooh! That sounds good. I was so excited about ducks. We have the quack shack completed and everything. But I don't want to spend the money on their run right now not knowing the status of our business... it's just not going to be a priority. I think we'll be okay eventually, but the unknown is doing a number on my anxiety. I hate being out of control.

I should be getting duck eggs in pretty soon. Would you like them?
