I'm wishing I was staying at home and not having to work. Not because I don't want to work, but because people are not taking this seriously and are putting me and my coworkers at risk. People are still coming in to just browse and buy things they don't need. One woman came in yesterday and bought a decorative solar powered yard stake and nothing else. You know, something that was absolutely essential and she couldn't possibly have lived without.

Other customers just don't respect social distancing and want to walk right up to you to ask questions.

And my store hasn't done anything except put up printed paper signs asking customers to social distance - and only on the door. It sounds like as of yesterday they were working on rolling out at least something like the grocery stores have with distances taped out on the floor, but nothing yet, and I doubt even that would have been done if customers weren't yelling at them about it on Facebook. We need to go to curbside pickup only, but I doubt we will because that would reduce impulse buying and we can't have corporate losing the chance at some money, now can we?

This rant inspired by the fact that one of my coworkers, who I worked with on Monday, mind you, and who was also doing freight that day so she was touching ALL the new stuff as she put it away, went home sick towards the end of her shift and now has all the symptoms. But they're also not testing her. So am I exposed? Will I start having symptoms in the next week? Should the store be being shut down and cleaned? Who knows.
That's ridiculous! Your saftey is being put at risk for the mighty dollar. I'd file a (anonymous?) complaint with some kind of health board. Pfft, make a bogus FB account and drop a simple comment stating the place is infected...

I think yesterday after I made a big deal out of it a bit they were taking it more seriously because as the manager was leaving she was telling me to make sure the store was in good shape because she had talked to the district manager and didn't know if they might be doing cleaning. Don't know for sure because again, for whatever smart reason they decided not to actually test my coworker and just have her quarantine. Without a positive result, we can't say for sure she actually has it and that it was in the store.

I say 'was' because as of today it's probably dead on anything it was on to begin with. It lives for four days, and today's day four.

But we really, really need to be taking more steps to keep the workers safe. If they had tested her and it did come back positive, everyone that worked that day would be considered exposed and would have to quarantine. That's basically the entire staff. The store would likely have to shut down due to lack of staff.

I just found out yesterday about this. Hopefully I don't have it, because since Monday I've gone to the grocery store and stuff.

:hugs @Pyxis I'm hearing lots of people aren't respecting workers spaces. People also don't like it when you ask them to back up. This is basicly what I picture when I hear people get offended that you request them to social distance.

Stay safe out there, and remember there are so many viruses with the same symptoms in those early stages. :fl you are safe!
