The Silkie rooster is no longer with us. I suspected he was getting aggressive with the boys, and this morning he tried spuring Xaiden right in front of me.

I sat Xaiden down and explained that was not right, and he shouldn't have to be scared of the birds. We talked about how good the other roosters are, and that it's not acceptable to be attacked. I told him the Silkie wasn't going to be here any longer, and asked him to go inside so I could take care of it. I didn't tell him what I was going to do, but he knows that bird won't be here when he comes back outside. So, Silkie soup stock is in my near further.

Wish that you were here to dispatch my drake. He is evil but so pretty.

Umbra checking out the youngsters from a slight distance. Now that he's gotten a bit older, he's actually showing some reserve. Still not my best boy, but a pretty darn good one.

The Shack chicks! They have the heat plate, but also have a led light with infared diodes over their brooder.

One of the Creves. These little things are lively and cute as buttons. Some of them come running right up and will jump in my hand. Very friendly little chicks. Thr picture is not the best, but they've got the cutest little beards.

Nothing has made me question my beliefs in proper animal treatment like keeping poultry has. However, I don't really think an aggressive rooster can be rehabilitated like a dog can. I love our animals with all my heart, but the line between a loved animal and a threat is a bit thin. It has made me much more comfortable with harvesting them for meat though.

Rehomed 4 cockerels today. :D

Another one has a home lined up and I’m keeping the last one.

The meet went well and they seemed really nice. Not sure they know a ton about chickens but that doesn’t matter. I didn’t either at first lol they seemed like good people. I hope they like the roosters. :fl
