Just got this from my wife...

How's this look?
Some water was making it to the floor, so I added the plastic try for some redundancy.

The water level is roughly an inch below the lid.

I have my ducklings water container sitting In a plastic dish pan what ever works !that looks good you may need another though my 6 would just about have one emptied so I had to add two then went to a larger container as they got taller.

So... Do ducks just randomly lose trail feathers? My older drake, has no drake feather, and he was going to a swap meet tomorrow... I'm not to sure I want to take him now.

I found some longer than normal feathers in the pool and ground, plus a broke feather still attached.

Does this look like an attack, or just "the way it goes"? None of the other ducks are missing feathers, and none including him seem spooked. No sings of predation ,no digging mark, dirty feathers, nothing...

I'm confused.

My drake molted his drake feather and didn’t get it back for a year. Could your drake be in molt? Or fighting with another drake? If a predator attack most likely someone would be injured in shock or dead.
Also keep a close eye on your girls, Mine often remove tail feathers while preening the boys. Not sure why...

@Miss Lydia and @rjohns39 thanks for the responses. For thr time, I'm going to assume it's molting, but keep a close eye on fighting/plucking. I've actually not read much about molting till yesterday, but given his age (16 weeks) it looks like that could be all it is.

Also, I decided not to take them to the swap meet. I found a woman that runs an aviary farm and would happily give them a forever home. She is the original breeder of my Seramas (though not who I got them from) and has a verry good reputation among those who know her. I'm not getting anything for them, but they will be safe and not used for meat. That's a good enough trade for me.

That is fantastic. Always such a relief when you know they are going to a new forever home!!
On second thought, we might be making soup after all. 32 out of my 77, 2 month old Moringa trees just got trampled, and those are intended to feed me and the family. I'm sure there's more instances where this is going to happen, and I could have been more preventative with my trees, but I'm pretty pissed right now.:he:rant:he:rant:he:rant:duc:duc:duc:duc:eek:

(no Ducks were harmed in the making of this post)
