So... I was supposed to go get a breeder pair of Seramas today, but that didn't end up happening. Instead, I inherited a bantam barnyard mix (including serama genetics) hen and her 11 babies. I got then yesterday, but was just to tired to chat about them.

The momma is named Cleo, and just as sweet as I hoped for. She fits in one hand, and can perch on 2 fingers. She appears to make a good mom too. I might just be partial, but I think she's very pretty. I love her orange eyes!

All of the chickens have let me handle them. Only a couple seems a bit skittish, but once I pick them up they relax.

So this was not an expected hatch. The original owners actually thought Cleo was pick off by predation, then out of the blue she showed up with babies. That being said, they didn't think all of the eggs where just hers, and said she was a great broodie for anyone's eggs. So... I'm going to remain hopeful this little one is either pure or close to a pure Serama chick. It's so tiny.

Here are some of the others, not all... The roster, he's much larger than the other chicks (still pretty small though). Do you guys think he looks older in general, or maybe just bigger?

I'm just a farmer trying out my wings so to speak

Morning folks :frow
Mornin!
That's very cool! I'm not looking to start selling chicks tomorrow, but it is in my long term goals.

What breeds are you working with/on? In general Ancona and Runner ducklings are my long term plan, but the Seramas have also joined that list.

Have a great day! :highfive:

Rhode Island Whites and Barred Holland. Not sure where I'm going with ducks and turkeys. I wanted to add cotton patch geese to the collection but just couldn't do the $25 per egg.

Normally I'm on my phone for the forums, and do not see signatures. However, I used the pc today, and saw the list of your bits. It just happened to be when checking your message too. /facepalm

$25 an egg is pretty darn steep. Not sure I'd be hatching those either, but they sure are pretty.

(it's also why I tend to misspell simple words often... I hate "auto correct" nothing correct about it)
