I was a little hesitant as Trumps war on the postal service and I try to Never do politics on here. But I hadn't thought about it choking off my supply of little duckies. Also all the feed store get them by mail too. I'm driving distance from Ideal but they are a huge operation. Will probably go out of business if they can't mail fowl. We may all have to get together and start a fowl pony express

This comes up every few years. It's generally driven by Animal rights groups and funded by the vertical integrators such as Purdue, Tysen's, etc. There are a couple of things happening that are being magnified by Covid.... The farm to consumer movement has been on the rise for several years taking market share away from the big guys. Covid has magnified the issue. With the inability to get stuff on the grocery shelves, people have started turning more and more to the local farms to buy their meat. At first they have sticker shock because locally raised, grass fed meat is way more expensive than what's sold at the grocery... Think $13/lbs for breast meat and $25 for a whole chicken. But those who took the plunge found a whole different taste experience and are staying. On the other front, hundreds of people have decided to grow their own meat birds. All of the birds from both streams come through the mail. The integrators send them by truck. So it's in their best interest to shut off the supply for everyone else.

Thats insane! Is there no poultry transport or private couriers there? We sure are in a lucky country here! We have endless animal/poultry couriers and most of our private frieght couriers will also transport animals/chicks/eggs
There’s several private couriers (UPS, FedEx, etc.) but none of the private ones will deliver live animals. 🙄

Or at least not live poultry. Not sure about other animals.
