Got the gerbils successfully together! Several days of bonding through hardware cloth and they're friends now. Here's the female, whom I've named Demeter:

Have you made a deal for the fur yet? I am thinking a gerbil cap would be a huge success.

Like Daniel Boones coon skin cap only a shorter tail.

We've had a couple hamsters.
The first hamster we got was when my boys were very young. We got it from Earl May back when they had pets. The old guy was really pushing a certain hamster on us. We drove 2 hours home and it was dead in the box. My boys were crushed.
I called them up and ripped them a new one. (not a good Christian attitude, ) Asked if I wanted a different one I told them to refund my money and I'd go elsewhere.
We got one from Petco, then later one from a girl in my son's class. They were both very sweet and we'd spend time with them before bedtime.
I wanted a gerbil! But my husband says they look too much like mice.
I have a Chinchilla right now though.

Apparently I've been so inactive here I stopped getting notifications. You guys get to own really cool critters! I got a pair of runners this week, so happy to be back to four ducks, filled a heavy hole in my heart. Also got to see an entire colony of muscovies, all setting, everywhere! Maybe one day I'll be game to own a broody muscovy again. (Also Ralphie glad to see the dux didn't take you out, hope you're feeling better)

Well, the gerbils are mating, lol. So, that's the pair successfully established.

Babies in 25 days! I might keep a male and give it a spooky Halloween name.
