heyo,
im Calendula, im new to this thread, my friend got ducks back in the spring and a few months later was tired of them pooping all over the front of her house. so she gave them to me, now i have 4 awesome Muscovy ducks! yay! i was wondering, do muscovy ducks pair up and mate 4 life or do they have a one drake flock like chickens do? bc my friend ate most of the males. so now we have 3 females to 1 male.

Muscovy don't pair off, most waterfowl don't except geese. Having one drake to at least 3 females up is very important since it keeps the females from being over bred. My Muscovy drake has 3 females. He had 4 but one has moved in with the Runners and Buffs. lol

Generally yes! And the father helps with baby care too. And then the older siblings also help with a new litter once it arrives.

No babies yet, so I'm thinking tomorrow. She's keeping me waiting, haha.

I do too!! They go from roly poly little fat balls to ducks in a blink it seems. Thank you, I’m sure they’ll change again when they molt in a couple months. I’m just happy they’re from my own flock. I was surprised since Runners “don’t go broody” I’m good thanks, back to seeing life in stunning color and clarity lol. How’s things Down Under?
